Voltron: Initial Impression
Currently (finally) watching Voltron and I’m really enjoying it so far. The characters are really fun, the designs are great, and the animation is pretty good too. I’m throwing my dice in the hunch that the animation production company behind Legend of Korra was maybe connected? Deigns and animation style seem similar anyway....
I just wish the Thundercats reboot had been as strong as this one, because I really did enjoy the designs in that show, too, and felt it deserved better than what it got ><
Ngl I watched some episodes of it recently and I was genuinely having fun with Sofia the first. Every song was better than the songs in wish, and the characters were nice. (Cedric is the best one obviously no contest) The animation quality was initially distracting, but only because everything else was so polished, and I ended up getting used to it. I’d watch it more.
The Vision of Piers Plowman [Initial Impression]
The Vision of Piers Plowman [Initial Impression]
I first read The Vision of Piers Plowmansometime late last year. Months later, I decided to go through and read it again. The first time I read it, I only read about half before other obligations took my time away; reading it was slow going due to the complexity and so I wasn’t feeling the pace and quit. Even so, I loved what I did read and decided that should the remainder of the poem be as…

The Inferno by Dante (Initial Impression)
The Inferno by Dante (Initial Impression)

Though Miltonic writing is outside of the purview of medievalism, strictly speaking, I feel that the period is close enough that it warrants inclusion as part of a generalized study. And, why there are a few pieces on the Classical world. But today, we are heading back to the…

Initial Impression of Doer Fundamentally, Deor is about the attempt to reconcile loss. It’s six stanzas communicate a different extrapolation of negativity; in order: Weland and his exile, the death of Beadohild brother, the legendary love of Mӕthild, the rule of Theodric, the cruel Goth king Ermanaric, and finally, the speaker himself, Doer, who once a scop (or, said again, a bard) was replaced by a more talented poet and reciter.
Initial Impression of the Finnesburh Fragment This piece of poetry is fascinating in that its events are recorded in Beowulf. Specifically, in Beowulf, there is a digression which makes direct reference to this poem’s contents, of how Hengest succeeded leadership of the Danes after the death of Hnӕf.
