One of my favourite things is old people in grocery stores. The ladies, running into friends in the soup aisle, Laughing about kids and grandkids, Catching up on the latest gossip. The couple, him blind, her barely mobile. But together they'd chatter about the things on the shelf. Brightly smiling, the best thing in their lives was each other. The man who bought flowers, Couldn't stop talking about his lovely wife, He wouldn't mention til the end, The blooms would be resting against her headstone. But my favourite was a June afternoon, We were sitting on a bench, they were sitting on the one next to ours, You couldn't see them but I could, And in every glance they stole of us, I could see they saw themselves. Her eyes remembering, My heart hoping, That we'd end up where they are now. Love under florescent lights // E.M. - It's Always You #18
