Inkheart Livestream

Hello Inkfam!

Join me this coming Monday, April 27 at 8:00pm EDT for an Inkheart movie livestream!

This event will take place at inkheart.andchill.tv.  Feel free to explore the platform beforehand.  It does not require you to create an account and supports both text and audio chat as well as a fun cinema-style virtual setting.

We’ll start the movie right at 8, but feel free to join a little early to say hi and stay after the movie to share your favorite Inkheart-related YouTube videos.

Anyone is welcome to join, so spread the news!

Is it just me or reading the inkworld trilogy really makes you wanna go full hobo and just get lost in the woods among a caravan of thieves and circus performers? Cause my personality has literally been shaped by this and sometimes when I think about it it kinda scares me.

Inkfam Book Rec

Title: The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. By: Neal Stephenson and Nicole Galland

Plot Summary: A young linguist finds herself pulled into a secret government organization that specializes in bringing magic back to life.  The narrative begins by switching between the present-day account of Melisande Stokes’ involvement with the Department of Diachronic Operations and her mysterious entrapment in 19th century London, just months before the original extinction of magic.  As it progresses, IM’s, official reports, transcripts, and diary entries track the progress of the plot.  The book is part experiment in magic-meets-science, part time-travel adventure, part lament of government bureaucracy, part techno-babble.

Similarities to Inkheart: Lands its characters into the challenge fitting in in an entirely new environment without arousing suspicion.  Features characters you love to hate and some who exist in entirely the wrong story.  Includes several strong female leads of differing backgrounds and valued abilities.  A valued magic-worker with a much-coveted skillset sends and calls other characters through time.  Longing for a simpler time when the world didn’t move so fast.  Celebrates the resilient human spirit in the face of challenge.  When those who don’t know better meddle with magic, magic meddles back.  A hefty read! Differences from Inkheart: Deals with time travel instead of travel between worlds.  Modern-day portions are set in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  A love letter to history and language rather than books.  Little to no mention of magical creatures; seeks to explain magic in more scientific terms.  Practically all characters are adults and are meant to be related to by adult readers.  Some violent and sexual themes and plot points.

i get really excited everytime someone asks me if i have a book to suggest them. I do the anime glasses move
