starting to read the Inkheart (2003) book as a guy who loved the movie as a kid - got two questions:

1. is there still a fandom out there? ( i know if there’s a dying/dead fandom they’re on tumblr lmao )

2. is it worth getting into as a adult? have i missed my window to enjoy this book, chat?

Random things I drew&designed during reading the inkworld trilogy

Hey does anybody remember the Inkworld series? Maybe just me? That's ok I drew The Adderhead anyways bc he was one of the first villains in my little elementary school brain to register as a complex crazy evil guy. 10/10 villain, would hate again. details and dissertation beneath the cut.

I tried to marry the inspiration of Henry the 8th, Italian royal fashions, and just more outright fantasy touches to the design to create the outfit, as well as as many adder references too. I tried to give him the powerful but aging and softening build from the books, but his portrait has an unsheathed sword to signify he's still willing to be the aggressor.

There's not much description if hum physically, being noted to have "a butcher's face" as well as "cold, lizard-like eyes" and his well attributed ruby nostril piercings. I tried to give him features that could feasibly have passed to Violante around the set of his mouth and darker, greying hair. I also gave him bags beneath his eyes and discolouration in his face because of his frequent insomnia. I also set pearl flowers atop the crown, Adder's tongue lilies to be exact.

More lilies, as well as a closeup of the embroidery on his tunic, the ruby fastens, and the big chain that's. Just a silver snake tbh. And yes all those snakes are adders tiled very carefully to make an Adder pattern. Adder-ception. Adder recursion. Anyway. This took me 8 hours. Worth it.

thinking about how meggie and brianna are both the spitting image of their respective missing parents and how painful it must have been for mo and roxane to look at them all those years and see the faces of their lost loves looking back. the comfort they may have found in still having pieces of resa and dustfinger in their lives through their children. and then! and then. when they’ve finally been reunited, all resa and dustfinger can think about when they see their daughters is how much they remind them of the partners they lost, because mo and roxane were the ones who actually got to raise them.

Did anyone else read the Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke when they were kids?

Cause I swear to god I just reread the entire trilogy (I first read it in grade six) and OMFG it was so freaking good I forgor how good it was it’s consuming my mind and my soul

Anyways I drew Roxane and Battista (the mask-maker guy who makes masks that didn’t really do anything but he was really cool so I drew him anyway)

Hoping that this reaches the very few ppl on tumblr who know abt this series because it is SERIOUSLY underrated
