For the character ask game — I’d like to see what you have to say about Ahsoka, please!
Character Ask Game
Give me a character and I will give you my thoughts on: Ahsoka Tano
one aspect about them I love: WHERE do I ever START? She is the literal representation of The Perfect Jedi. She had two Masters, and was a product of them both. Anakin's darkness, Obi-wan's light. She is a product of two warriors who were half of one another, the Force's Golden Child, perfectly balanced, and perfectly set up to lead a new generation of Jedi. AND THE FACT THAT THE ORDER ITSELF KICKED HER OUT IN FAVOR OF GAINING AN IN WITH THE SENATE IS SYMBOLIC AF OF THE FACT THAT someone who has True Jedi values (True Goodness) could not even be a Jedi anymore at that point. That the Order (an institution) had strayed so far from the Jedi Way (goodness) that it rejected a perfect Jedi herself. This has so, so many delicious narrative implications!!!
She is strong, brave, caring, leaderly, quick, compassionate, independent, invested, sharp, and smart. She is such a great, great character and I ADORE her. She is the personification of a leader. I also love how every other character makes a comment of how alike she is to Anakin and Obi-wan (who she canonically considers to be her parents - sobbing).
one aspect I wish more ppl understood about them: She is literally 14-17. The Jedi clearly see childhood differently than our Earth cultures, but that doesn't mean she does not have socio-emotional-psychological needs of a child. She is going to complain, be cranky, be tired, speak out and talk back. She has been through literal hell and lost the two people she loved most in the world on top of losing the Order who outright stabbed her in the back and used her as a scapegoat. Master Yoda saw this as a huge tentpole in how the Order contributed to its own destruction - and regretted it as a Force Ghost even ten years later.
The reason she survived all of this is literally because of Anakin. Because of Anakin's independence and fiery challenging of the Order when he was a Knight. Because he taught her to be self-reliant, upright, and encouraged her to speak her mind. He recognized these qualities in her and encouraged her to refine them because they were Ahsoka, and he didn't want her to be anyone else. That is how he thought the Jedi Way should work.
She became a vital part of the Rebellion because of Anakin, not despite him. Because that's who Anakin was (a rebel, a hero), and what he encouraged in her as well. What she looked up to. That is why she so desperately wanted to save him from Vader - because Anakin saved her life so many times over, and his training kept her going even when she was no longer a Jedi. She is a living testament to Anakin and Obi-wan's beliefs and teachings. That they were good men and trained a good young woman.
She does not want to be a Jedi because she sees the Order isn't the same as the Jedi Way, and she holds onto anger and pain about that because she sees it as valuable - a reminder in honor of her own struggles, and a reminder of what she sees as the betrayal of the Order (institutions) towards the good man Anakin Skywalker. She vows never to betray good in favor of a rulebook.
It doesn't matter who is telling you something is right if you know it is wrong. That is why she can still reach Anakin in Vader- because she knows not everything is black and white, light and dark, sometimes life hurts-- and it is grey.
one of more headcanons I have: She and Anakin love, love, love Coruscanti street food and have every single one of their favorite spots mapped out and constantly bring back takeout to the Temple apartment (which is Anakin's room adjoined with Obi-wan's). Anakin sneaks her out to see Holonet movies when it is raining in the city and covers her with his big cape under the huge storming city sky. Obi-wan gives her "The Talk" after they find out about Lux because Anakin feels like he is going to die of embarrassment, even though he really does give it his best shot. He's just a hick from the Outer Rim. She and Anakin sneak a little spacedog puppy into the Temple and secretly raise him in their room. Obi-wan is 100% against it - but no one can resist spacepuppies, not even him. And one day it follows Obi-wan to the Council room, to Anakin and Ahsoka's horror, and hops into his lap. She is their pride & joy - she is Anakin's little buddy and Obi-wan's valuable confidant. They trust her wholeheartedly, are so so proud of her, and adore their Jedi-lifestyle family unit.
one character I wish they'd interact with more: I wish Ashoka was allowed to have more female friends. We get Barriss but I wanted her to have a real friend she could rely on. Hopefully we see that expanded on more in the AHSOKA show as she gets older.
one headcanon I have of them with another character: She returns to the Togruta homeplanet and finds it all a little strange - she has a hard time adjusting having grown up Topside in Coruscant. She ends up leaving a little defeated - not entirely having felt at home there either. I think Anakin avoided taking her there because he knows how much his memories of Tatooine haunted him, he doesn't want that for her.
