could you please describe what racing thoughts feel like? i keep seeing that they’re common in people with adhd, but all the explanations i’ve read confuse me (cause i’m dumb).
okay you probably dont understand, because you have a different type of inner experience ur not dumb, or just a less constant one
theres 5 types of inner experiences (i got a post in detail read here)
inner speech and inner seeing being the most common
racing thoughts are more typical to people with inner speech that is very constant
what that means is say a sentence, then close you mouth and imagine saying a sentence but oop its in ur head now thats inner speech
if it sounds the same outloud as in ur head thats inner speech
youre inner speech generally is faster then ur speech outloud so it works faster
adhd affects memory so you can loose track of what you had been just thinking of as you forget,
this leads your thoughts to jump from one topic to another, and faster thinking means you make jumps and connections faster than others
this would be hard to understand if you had a different type of inner experience like solely inner seeing
most people generally have inner speech with a little inner seeing mixed in (if you cant inner see AT ALL its called aphantasia)
inner seeing is basically imagine an apple, then ur brain can pull up an image of what an apple looks like into the void of your head
read the articles in the link i put above if u wanna find out more stuff but thats the gist
HHHH inner speech is on of my old hyperfixations srry
but yeah its basically
your inner monologue talks faster than others (SPEED)
makes connections quicker (weird logical jumps)
forgets what is was previously thinking (cant go backward)
and is just kind of like a racing train
God is Already Within Us
"Take up the broom of love, and sweep the chamber of your heart." (Bani of Kabir Sahib)
"Only when we have made our hearts clean, can the Lord -- Who is immaculate and pure -- manifest there. He is already residing there, but he will manifest. We don't need to bring some other Lord from outside. The false worldly thoughts come from outside and fill up our within. But the Almighty Lord is already innate in our within. He does not descend from some other realm." (Baba Somanath's commentary)
"But my Friend resides within me." (Bani of Kabir Sahib)
"What need do I have to look for Him outside? When we direct our yearning toward the Lord over and over, we become his very form. Then we say, 'He has become my true friend. I have no more need to wait for His coming. If He were separate from me, then I would have to search for Him and wait for Him. But I am in Him and He is in me. So now what is the point of seeking Him? Where would I search and who would I wait for?'" (Baba Somanath's commentary)
Meditation
"Without eyes, you see; without ears, you hear." (Bani of Kabir Sahib)
"To see without eyes, to hear without ears -- this is an inner experience.
Guru Nanak has also spoken on this subject: 'To see without eyes; to hear without ears.'
All the saints teach the same thing. No matter how hard you may try, you will not be able to have the darshan [vision] of that inner Lord using these physical eyes.
Ramdas Swami tells us: 'These eyes of flesh cannot see Him; you can behold the Lord only with the eye of knowledge (the inner eye).'
He cannot be seen with these eyes of flesh. Only when you look with the inner eye of knowledge will you behold Him. In the same way, you will hear without ears. Through the physical ears, you hear the sounds of the outer words. But the inner Dhun is resounding of itself, and that Sound is heard without ears. We hear outer sounds through the physical ears, but if the inner Sound did not exist, our sense organs would not function -- our very life-breath would cease." (Baba Somanath's commentary)
The Master said, “I will give you what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, what no hand has touched, and what has never occurred to the human mind.

More About the Rule We Have in This Path of the Masters About Not Sharing With Others One’s Inner Spiritual Experiences (Inner Light, Inner Visions, Inner Sounds, Regions of Inner Space)
Each person's spiritual or mystical experiences are unique to themselves based on the amount of time spent in mediation, how accurately they follow the meditation instructions, the depth of their focus or concentration, and karmic background/mental impressions from past lives/samskaras. Each person needs to focus on their own experiences and progress without being contaminated by the beliefs or expectations of others, or be discouraged if their experiences aren't as wonderful as someone else's are alleged to be, or get egotistical if they have great experiences. I appreciate the master's approach of not seeking a revival tent or carnival atmosphere where people would be eager to "share" about experiences, making the whole thing into a corrupt farce of public bragging and false mental beliefs, which of course would interfere or subvert one's authentic process of inner seeing and hearing.

The Third Eye Contemplating Inner Light: "Dristi yoga [Yoga of Inner Seeing, Meditation Upon the Inner Light] can be explained through translation of the words: Dristi is the faculty of vision, and Yoga means union. Thus Dristi yoga refers to the concentration of the dispersed vision into a focus on a Single Point which is beheld with the mind’s eye [third eye]. The aspirant of Dristi yoga is instructed by the preceptor to bring both beams of vision to a unity by focusing and intense gazing on a Single Point. "Through this practice the aspirant pierces the realm of darkness within and enters the realm of Divine Light. The aspirant thus moves from the microcosm (body, the material realm) to the macrocosm (Divine Realm), and from the gross material world to the subtle Spiritual Realm where the aspirant is also able to perceive the Subtle Divine Sounds. With this connection to the Subtle Sounds the practitioner of Dristi yoga is enabled to proceed further on the Path.
