Review Proper
I do read the manga every time it updates but there’s a reason why it was never included in my Reading Lists. The art was great but the plot is...uhh, how do I put this? It seemed to belong in 2006 - we’ve got our dense as lead uke who’s easily manipulated by the seme who’s all in this for his ulterior motives. I’ve caught myself freezing awkwardly while listening to this because there was no fucking logic to all of it - I mean, I know every artist is different and I don’t judge but, fucking to improve in shoe making??? 😂 And I’ve put listening to it down TWICE for two different reasons - one was I found it so boring (I guess my cranky ass couldn’t handle listening to three CDs straight) and the other one I’ll discuss later.
I mean, it’s not as bad as DoS Obake - Jin does have more of a backbone than Yuuji will ever have so there’s that. Kei-san, despite how cool and calculating he seemed, was actually not so smart since he couldn’t sense Jin’s jealousy at one point. Or maybe Jin was just that composed? Who knows?
But I’m here to review the CD, aren’t I? I actually don’t have that much to say except for how GOOD Okitsu Kazuyuki is an actor. Yamashita Seiichirou was honestly, in my opinion, having a hard time with Jin’s character and the way he acts Jin’s easily startled nature out was a little too much - it kinda reminded me of how Asta from Black Clover screeches every sentence he says. He does okay the rest of the time though but GODDAMN MIYAUCHI OKITSU KAZUYUKI - I swear that this man is a chameleon. He manages to just blend into his roles so perfectly - you could tell that Yamashita Seiichirou was just doing his job but Okitsu talked like he was LIVING in that universe. He sounded so natural and smooth.
But there’s also another person who proved to be the same.
Boi I haven’t read the raws for this and I have no other info about the CD except the ones stated above so when he came out I was like:
TWO OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITES IN ONE BLCD!!!! 😭😭😭 YO TACHIBANA SHINNOSUKE GOT ME SO SHOOKT I WAS SCREAMING WHILE MY MOM WAS IN THE ROOM. Everything was happening so fast so I had to pause for a minute to take all my feelings in. Two of Maeno Tomoaki’s OTPs were in the same CD and they were both playing semes! 😭😭😭 AND THIS MAN SLAYYYYEEEDDD!!! When his and Okitsu-san’s characters were talking, it was as if they were in a world of their own. Their deliveries were so perfect and smooth that I couldn’t help but stay tune into the story even though it was utter bullshit. 😂 There you go boys and girls, that is the real reason why I finished this CD. 👏
I was actually already slightly biased over Okitsu from the start but, his presence alone wasn’t enough for me to get this. The other reason that I was talking about earlier is that I’m not really into Okitsu taking on seme roles post-Miyauchi esp since Answer just came out a few months ago. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that he’s bad at it - in fact HE’S TOO GOOD TBH. It’s just that you know, I’m more Miyauchi trash than I am Okitsu trash. 😂 The second time I stopped listening to the CD was around their second mattress mambo and it took me a whole day before I picked it up again and it turned out that Tachibana Shinnosuke’s part was right after that. 😂
Anyway, my biases over the VAs aside, the plot was old and generic af. 😂 The casting was spot on in Okitsu and Tachibana’s case but, the execution on Yamashita Seiichirou’s side needs some work (though I’m going to cheer him on and hope he does well in the future). If there was a character that I would need to pick as my favorite, it would be Tachibana Shinnosuke’s. He was a pretty funny character - I liked him. 😂 The chemistry between our leads was good - it was mutual and even though Okitsu was clearly more experienced, Yamashita wasn’t so overpowered. The mattress mambos were not my cup of tea (fucking while drawing wtf?) but they were executed well nonetheless so y’all thirsty bitches can have a go on this. 👌 The CD is also pretty closely tied to the manga so reading it along is possible.
If you’re a fan of the manga then definitely listen to this as it’s a good adaptation. But if you’re like me who’s after a plot then this may not be for you. 👍
Peace out, ma homies.
The scene where we all wanted it to happen (Baku & Ichi’s wedding)
I re-read Daydream Nightmare (you know that one naked demon GG scans used for recruitment) the other day and I loved how silly the manga was. Why were there only two vols why did it have to stop I want more-
