Novella was sitting quietly by the dying fire in her room. She sniffled softly as she nervously played with the hem of her nightgown. The tears had ceased a while ago but left her eyes and face red. After Francesco's confrontation, she had called after him, but he had ignored her and she was partly happy that he did not turn back. She had never seen such anger within him before. His tone was cold, and it struck her like ice. His eyes were filled with dark rage, and throughout his accusations Novella simply looked at him with confusion and a bit of fear. She did not know what he was speaking of. He had come home in a rage and then accused her of being unfaithful to him and betraying him. She had denied it, of course, it was not true. She had no relationship with Lorenzo save for friendship, but apparently, her words were not enough to convince her husband. Although someone else's words seemed to be enough to condemn her.

Novella had retreated to her room quickly and quietly after Francesco had left the room and stayed there. She did not return to their shared chambers and instead took refuge inside her personal ones. She had not even used those rooms until now. But for now, she wanted to stay shut up and away from her husband. She loved him deeply, but he had hurt her with his accusations, hardly allowing her to defend herself and then yelling at her. She was scared as well and thought it best to remain by herself for now. She was still processing what had happened, trying to figure out where Francesco had gotten the idea that she had been unfaithful to him with Lorenzo. She kept running over what he said to her. He had asked her why she had come to Bianca's wedding. In truth, Novella did not know if there was a specific reason why. The invitation came to her father and had included her. Perhaps it was just politeness to include her. Why did there have to be a reason? Why could her husband not believe her?

Her head snapped up and pulled her from her thoughts as he heard his voice. She stayed where she was, and remained quiet as he called her name, unsure if she wanted to answer. She did not feel like being accused of betraying him again. She did not feel like being yelled at again. Although she looked towards the door as he spoke once more and her heart clenched. She hated that he was hurting. Slowly she stood and grabbed her shawl, wrapping it around her shoulders, and pushed her hair back. She lit a candle and sat it on the small table in the room before opening the door slowly. She opened it and stepped back several feet, and waited for him to enter.

     For a minute, he didn’t say anything. The words kept going ‘round and ‘round in his head, searching for a foothold. There was something in it that just didn’t want to make sense.

     Glen took a drag on his cigarette, pinching the filter between his fingers. The smoke made a halo around his dark, unkempt hair—until he moved and it dissipated, leaving a haze around him. “That’s… bleak.” He paused, deep brown eyes searching over her face with evident concern furrowing his brow. “You alright? Something you want to talk about? Or…”

He trailed off. After all, it was none of his business, but he thought a good listener might be helpful—especially with a comment like that.

              The Lord demands of her that she honors her father’s wishes, that she obeys. but he also request that fathers do not PROVOKE their children to anger, and, the path chosen for her. does stir within her, a great deal of feelings, few of them associated with that of a blushing bride. Anger, guilt, suspicion and an overwhelming sense of injustice. 

              Her palm feels sweaty when she raises her hand to his door, knocking repeatedly, waiting for permission to enter.  and once its granted. she feels like an intruder. This office is not for her. She’s not a part of this world. it’s a Space made for men of culture and substance, A Room where fates are decided.  

             “Padre.” her voice is hesitant, here fury will make for a poor Companion. Serving only to make her seem hysterical. “You know i am not one to question you.” The apology hanging between them, as she makes it towards his table. The room seems large and intimating to a woman, of such short statue. 

             “But this engagement, leaves me both conflicted and confused.... I urge you to have mercy. Either reconsider, or if that is not an option, then explain to me, why i am being send to the bedside of our rivals.”

It would be a lie to say Kilgrave never thought of her in the long years-- months? Had it only been months?-- since he’d left her standing there on that dock in Hell’s Kitchen. Try as he might to keep her from his thoughts, she had a habit of crawling back into his mind every so often, unbidden; unwelcome. It was constantly at first, every few moments she would be there, haunting him. Every day, she was the first thing he thought of in the morning and the last thing he thought of at night.

Until, one day, she was the second thing.

From then on, it was increasingly easier and easier to forget. To put her from his mind. He stopped checking in on the local news. He stopped getting in touch with the last remnants of the people he’d put into place around her. He set himself free of the shackles that were Jessica Jones. And for months, he was happy to live his own life as if she’d never entered it.

When the news of Patsy Trish Walker’s arrest and subsequent imprisonment managed to make international headlines, however, he found himself as though back at the beginning. Suddenly she was everywhere again, taunting him, berating him, refusing to give him a moment’s peace. Everywhere he went, he saw her, casting that awful, judgmental stare his way. He couldn’t eat, he couldn’t sleep, he couldn’t go about his regular daily life without her being there to unnerve him.

So could you really blame him when, after three weeks of torment, he hopped on a plane back to the familiar streets of New York City to see her? Well, yes, you probably could but he wasn’t really the sort to entertain that possibility now was he? He hadn’t planned it, not really. He just... showed up one day, out of the blue. There he was, standing outside her office/apartment door, knocking like he was just a regular client come to utilize her private investigative skills. He couldn’t even begin to imagine what she’d do when she opened that door and he stood a pace or three back from the door itself in case her first instinct was to swing.

Impatience bristled along the back of his neck and so he reached out to knock a second time. Perhaps, if he were lucky, he’d only lose one tooth this time.

⌜—           Of all the warriors that were there, the one she enjoyed her company the most was Finan, somehow they had become fast friends, she just felt that somehow she could be her without anyone or anything judging her, she enjoyed it. There were times she thought about what would have happened if Finan hadn't helped her, why she ended up hurt but she was glad she had and she was grateful, she would never deny that.

          She felt she had touched a wound but the truth was she knew very little, at least only what she had seen but she supposed she didn't want to talk about the past and she understood, she wasn't proud of hers either but it wasn't something she wanted to hold on to. She stayed quiet, taking a sip of the beer until she heard him speak and ended all her attention on him.

          "I have no doubt you are a real man with your Lord" she admitted as she listened to his words though she no doubt believed there was more to it. "And what is it that you seek? What is it that is yours?" she asked with interest, for at the end of the day that he would wait for Uhtred to fulfill his dream and then fulfill his had to be a sacrifice. She knew her support was important but she wondered what it was that he desired. Revenge? Reputation? Riches? Love? Peace? She wasn't sure about that. They simply passed those thoughts in her head, for a long time she had longed for reputation but it took her a long time to realize that it wasn't her real desire, it was her brother's. The truth was that hearing him say that only caused Eadith to take a greater interest in him, she smiled slightly and simply fretted a little. "I'll have to buy you another ale later then to find out" she finished by laughing .           ⸥
