one thing i’ve been thinking about is in a universe when shinji i’d social link was maxed so that he lived, would he have a resolution? and if he did what would it be? what would his second persona be? i’m curious what your thought on this are

Well, Persona Q said that his Persona didn’t evolve because he wasn’t ready to let go of what it represents... However, in the scenario you propose, it’s likely he would have gotten over his issues eventually, which would have opened him up to gain a second Tier Persona.

That said, I really can’t make any prediction of what that Persona would have been like. On my ask blog I once joked it would have been Brutus, because of his connection to Cesar, but that was obviously not meant seriously. To make a honest assessment, I’d need to see what Shinji acts like and how he presents himself upon finally letting go of what’s holding him back, and with him out of the picture after his “death scene”, actually dead or not, we’ll never know about that.
