bug time
Very different post of mine but recently I made some old teaching specimens into a art piece for my department!
pinned into place
[ my submission for @inspekchin-the-full-combo ]
Insect pinning will have you turning into a fromsoft boss I’m casting One Thousand Spears Until You Die at this bee and she’s dodging all of them perfectly and I’m fucking losinggggg I was just chilling in my arena till The Bug rocked up and now it is not looking so good
(In all seriousness tho I did eventually win out. After an hour and a half of fighting with this bee for posing)
Can I get a Luna moth inspired gif set

Apologies for the vagueness of this question but that big antique fair you go to in MA, do you ever see any preserved/mounted insects there? If not, do you know where I would look for such things short of starting to collect and preserve them myself?
I have seen them before at Brimfield, but I typically see them at popup "oddities" markets. They are fairly common - both as antiques and local/imported items - but I'm not well versed in the ethics and techniques of preserved insects.
Your local natural history museum may have someone who can point you in the right direction. If you are local to MA, I also wonder if the butterfly refuge (Magic Wings) could also give you info.
Anyway, tossing this out to the void to see if folks more knowledgeable can chime in!
Did insect taxidermy for the first time in my life since my parents gifted me some beetles they found on a hike :3
The result is kind of wonky but I’m still pretty proud of how it turned out!
The snowberry clearwing got so soggy lmao. It'll dry normally I just left it too long
