I have a phobia of daddylonglegs. I know they’re harmless but I hate the way they drift with all their knees. Ugh.

i know that you could literally fire a cannonball of daddylongleges at me and it would be harmless but i stg if one of those legs touches me i will die. it barely drifted near me and i feel like i gotta take another shower i think it’s that my animal brain only registers “spindly legs + tiny body = spider and oh my god it can fly”

its so shitty tho like why does it do that? other flying bugs don’t have long shitty legs dangling about as they fly, they have sensibly-proportioned legs that they can tuck in and just make a much less harrowing silhouette which is also probably why they can execute complex flying manoeuvres like “steering” like you can’t tell me the awful dangly spindles help with anything except creeping sensible people out like wtf evolution

was trying to look up whether daddy-long-legs can eat, a task complicated by the fact the american daddy-long-legs is an entirely different but equally useless harvestman thing, and further needlessly complicated when i tried looking them up thru their larva which i only know as leatherjackets. this animal must have been designed to fuck with google and be terrible at literally everything else

anyway it turns out they can but don’t much once they reach the shitty barely-flying form
