so, prong 1: exciting is not the only thing that would make someone want to be with you for a long time. im going to give you a fictional example, if that’s cool with you, but there are real-life examples out the wazz. you probably are aware of john and sherlock, if you have a tumblr, and however you view their relationship, the fact is that sherlock is not drawn to john because he is exciting. he’s drawn to him because he’s loyal, down-to-earth, encouraging, warm, and knows when to put up with his crap and when to teach him to be nicer. actually, here’s a real-life example too! my friend and his kind-of-girlfriend are perfect together, and this girl is crazy about him. and he’s a boy scout with decent grades and a generally laid-back kind of life. he’s never gotten arrested, he is the last person to do something spontaneous and firecracker-y, he makes the mac and cheese precisely, by the instructions on the box, u feel? and she likes him because he is kind and generous and honest and he genuinely cares for her well-being. they are not exciting at all, but they are happy as all get-out. and you, friend, are a caring and kind and three-dimensional person, completely worth staying with.
prong 2: the right person- and you will meet them, i guarantee you- will find you exciting. they will get so excited about you. they may look at your toothbrush next to their toothbrush in the holder and want to squeal because they’re so pumped that you exist and are in their life. they will look at all the things that you think make you boring and they will think they are so exciting because they fit together in this crazy arrangement to make the person that makes them want to stay forever.
