Here are some more pictures from my time in Japan! From Tokyo, we caught the shinkansen (bullet train) to Nagano, where we saw Zenkoji Temple and stayed in a shukubo (traditional temple lodging). Early the next morning, we got to observe some of the Buddhist rituals and have a traditional shōjin ryōri breakfast! Blog To Japan: 12 Reasons Why I'd Like To Go

So over the past month I have been posting to this blog 12 reasons why I dream of visiting Japan. As I already regularly post speed paintings, I thought it would be a great (and hopefully somewhat original!) idea to dedicate some of them to Japan especially for this competition.

The images were all painted from scratch in Photoshop and the last two were even painted on my tablet PC.  They were all painted from photographic reference except for the 'Origami' piece which was my own composition.  Each one on average took around 40 minutes to paint.

The intention behind these paintings is to express my enthusiasm for Japan and all things Japanese. I hope you all like them as much as I enjoyed painting them!
