#InsightIndia | it is not uncommon for 'penny sweets' to be used as currency. I'm not complaining. You usually get a choice, today it was eclairs or bubblegum. Btw, all items on the receipts are labelled 'sweets', I think they just got lazy as we actually had a coffee, masala chai, ghee cake, banana cake and a veg puff. #India #wayanad (at Kalpetta Wayanad)
The problem with #hitchhiking in #India is that you may not end up where you intend to go. We thumbed down a ride in a dusty, sparse village called #aihole. Turns out we jumped onto a bus on a school trip, supposedly heading for where we wanted to go. Turns out we were going to stop at every point the teachers had planned for their trip along route, including #pattadakal temples and a Hindu worship ceremony especially arranged to coincide with the school trip. All this before stopping, sitting in groups and sharing chapatti, what I can only describe as moist muesli and a sweet coconut mix. We have never been asked for payment for hitching rides but on the hour we were on the bus we felt we had to spend a good time #dancing in the aisles with the #school, including their class #teachers and even the headmaster (keep an eye out for him in white at the back in the video). #InsightIndia #incredibleindia #super #badami #BritsCantDance (at Badami Karnataka)
