the creative process

I've been considering the idea of 'the creative process'. I'm working on developing my artist statement, not a simple process. It's weird, I could write about anybody, I can brainstorm a million ways to creatively word somebody else... but I can never seem to sum up my stuff. (Maybe that should tell me something)

It's turning out to be one of those experiences that's forcing me to look at myself, and edit, edit, edit. How do I really work? Why do I do what I do? How do things get started... What am I doing conceptually? lol, and am I doing anything conceptually? and on and on... obviously, I am an over thinker, but really isn't that a part of being an artist... at least for me? 

Maybe I allow myself to over think so then I can edit.

The flip side is more simple, the process part... bounded and gagged, at least for me to the creative brainwork. I'm noticing some patterns I've developed. One is to play around with different mediums, different tools, materials... and take on too many projects... this is when I usually wreck the studio... Adhd run amuk. 

This is the point when frustration kicks in. And forces me to clean the studio... for me, that involves moving furniture, vacuuming, moping, throwing as much crap out as I can. And rehanging finished pieces (I need to constantly me moving work on my walls, I wish I understood why) 

So I guess my creative process is to release the ADHD hounds, let them run wild and free, wear them out a little so they can focus and get some work done. 

My creative side requires a leash... haha
