Lieberman’s ‘The Story of the Human Body: Evolution, Health, and Disease’ from 2013 (he’s an evolutionary anthropologist at Harvard). It’s a pretty good general science read on human evolution. (You can listen to an interview with the author on NPRs ‘Fresh Air’ if you’re curious) Addendum (and further digression): A good companion piece to the above book would be 2006s ‘Mismatch: The Lifestyle Diseases Timebomb’ which echoes some of the points raised on Lieberman’s book and rests on the Evolutionary mismatch hypothesis.
