TL;DR Version: The Ghost Pepper Chicken Wings from @Popeyes do nothing to change my opinion that fast food chicken wings are a bad idea, but their mashed potatoes with cajun gravy is an excellent side. Look for a review of the Taco Bell nacho fries coming later this week on the day of their nationwide release. Full Review: As a preface, I am not a fan of bone-in chicken from fast food restaurants. I still decided to try the Ghost Pepper Wings from Popeye’s because I enjoy spicy food and thought maybe it was time to give fast food wings another shot. It was not, in fact, the time to do any such thing. The wings were small, heavily breaded, and there wasn’t much meat under the breading. In addition, they weren’t all that spicy. My favorite spicy fast food is the spicy chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A and these wings were nowhere near as spicy as that. If they do these in a chicken tender format I’ll give them another try, but I won’t get the wings again. The mashed potatoes and cajun gravy, however, is a great side. Basic fast food mashed potatoes, but the cajun gravy kicks things up a notch and represents a marked improvement over most other fast food restaurant mashed potatoes and gravy.
