Couple of weeks before we’ve launched on Product Hunt and made it wrong
About a month before our launch of Product Hunt, we’ve started our media activity with Quora and Reddit and on those platforms does not have a smart filter on people who upwote your answers and it’s pretty clear why, those are QnAs services. Product Hund does.
Product Hunt is for product hunters
There’s a great article about “how to launch on product hunt” written by Product Hunt team and they nailed it. Yet we were driven by an unstoppable willing to launch as fast as possible. And wee didn’t finish an article and missed the most valuable point. The “What Not To Do” section.
Long story short - you can’t tell your friends to support you with upvotes and take your place in hall of fames. We did have a 2k of active service users, made a blog post and a broadcast. Dozens of people were upvoting us but Product Hunt did not care. Because Product Hunt is for product hunters.
And now you can’t even find us without an all flag on the search page
Learning
We’ve launched the second fun product on Product Hunt and we’re still learning on what to and what not to do. Trying to feel how Product Hunt community behaves and what drives them.
