Jerry Finkelstein relaxed from a hard days work by doing two things: making sure his lawn was neatly clipped and carving perfect carpet lines with his vacuum. He sometimes wished that after his relaxation hobbies, no one would use the shag or his lawn ever again. Jerry went ga-ga for symmetry, he was oh yea with order. One day he had an epiphany. Like a flash he understood his future greatness. Jerry would invent pre-pressed, vacuumed carpet for homes! You could keep the lines even after daily use! Clean the mess, yes, keep the lines, just fine! He spent everything he had on his dream. He was certainly a man of action but no one bought his idea. He would not take no for an answer, and he was positive that people would love his invention. Jerry had what it took to succeed except one thing, he wouldn't change his game plan. He refused to try anything different. He refused to take others experiential advice. One man fellow dreamer suggested he diversify and try selling pre-lined lawns, but Jerry would not listen. His idea was good, but his attitude needed some perspective cleaning. When we hold onto anything too much, we have a tendency to put blinders on our eyes and not see the bumps in the road that those around us can clearly see. Once we're in it, we need to step out of it to get a clear understanding of what we're up against and be open to others who can see our ideas from an outside perspective. ⛑🤔⛑⛑⛑⛑⛑Someone threw their last bit of change into his bucket. Once again, he was on the street corner begging for change. He was desperate, he was hungry, and addicted. He was hard enough on himself and all he could do was look down as the last bit of his dignity was tossed into the bucket by a stranger who looked away. Then something happened. A breeze suddenly blew two leaves in his direction. He was fascinated how they simply danced around in the wind as if they were made to lift his spirit. He smiled and watched them blow away, and he wondered why the charm of change was just that, charming. The rest of his day, he smiled. Even the most "unfortunate" of us are caught in the charm of change. This morning my daughter went to her first day of preschool, and despite my amazement of how it all goes so fast, I was so grateful for her and her new adventures. The charm of change struck me as well. Sometimes the songs in our head play really loud and that's not in a good way. Some melodies of thought are slow and down in the case of depression, while other musical notes of thought are quick and furious like anxiety. The truth is that without the instrument, without you playing the part of the musician, these songs can be managed better. In other words, you don't have to entertain discomforting thoughts. Allow them to just be. Rise above them and simply observe the notes on the sheet of music. Allow them to play without judgement or another tune of thought judging your judgement. They took each other for granted. They assumed they would live forever. That's how we play it, right? Our significant other becomes the used coat we place on the rack ( or floor ) as we rush to see what's in the fridge. We smile as we pass by but we're thinking about school, work, or even our phone being too far away from us. We're more in love with that dam phone than real flesh and blood. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 Don't fret, we all do it. It's just that in their case they no longer had time. It was over. When Chase got the call that his beloved was killed during another lousy commute, he sat there with his stupid phone, looked at his numb hands and smashed the device on the ground. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 They make those phones tough because not even the glass broke. He then looked down and saw the pics of her displayed on the screen. He grabbed his face and placed his elbows on the table. He sobbed. He wanted one more touch from her even if it was passing by as he put his coat on the rack, once more as it dropped to the floor. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞💋💋💋💋💋🤳 We can't say we're even allowed the next breath. Now we read that and deep in the recesses of our mind, we truly think, not us. Try to take the time to visualize the magnitude of shock it would be to lose that "one" special person in your life. Really sink into your emotions and see this. The trick in this scenario is not to lose hope, but understand the magnitude of gratitude you now feel for that person. Keep practicing this scenario and you will see more gratitude and less of that person being simply a fixture on the wall that you no longer look at. Start looking. Start noticing. Start doing.
