alt kids??
i have been seeing on a lot of social media and in my city kids who call themselves alt. especially after quarantine. it annoys me because some these kids are the ones who would tease and bully me and some of my friends an now they are “alt”
it’s great that they are expressing themselves, but its not all Pinterest/tikok/instagram models type styles. most subcultures came from DIYs. not everything has to be a perfect outfit
also “alt” is not its own style. It's an umbrella term for emo/goth/punk/Lolita. its also not just all black colors. there's a lot of colorful subcultures as well.
now not to say that its a phase for every “alt kid”. for older punks and goths try not to be so hard on the younger ones who are just discovering it. It would be great to give them pointers or music recommendations. And (this is for everyone) be nice, just be kind, it makes interactions more enjoyable.
also please if you are younger than 16 please be careful when in different subcultures. A lot of what i see where i live is kids who are 13-14 looking and acting like they are older (and not correcting older people who are flirting with them) as someone who was a tall kid, i would be hit on by people older than me and you need to let them know “hey I'm 13/14″ and if they proceed to still flirt leave.
there's a pressure (especially on young girls) to act more mature. Act like a kid while you can, trust me, its fun to stuff around and have fun.
a lot of the kids in m city are also always ALWAYS doing drugs in public. mostly weed and smocking. IDC about if you do those, but if you are underage for both those don't, you will get in trouble even if you think it looks cool, , and doing hard drugs in public makes all the darkly inclined subcultures look bad.
this is a poorly put together rant but feel free to put your opinion in, but like, be nice i guess.
oh yeah also, for the Brisbane alt kids, (ramp kids) who ever threatened to stab my friend, get fucked, he literally cant defend himself.
