Taiwan, 1999 Kaohsiung, Taiwan. 台湾 高雄市 新興区 民生一路 Photography by Michitaka Kurata
A celebration of growth and abundance captured in 1940s Kaohsiung, Taiwan. On August 5, 1940 (Showa 15 / 昭和十五年), little Nami (南美) posed for her second birthday (Man nisai / 滿二才) alongside her family and their remarkably towering home-grown bananas (Ie no Banana / 家のバナナ). This portrait, printed by the prestigious Tabata Photo Studio (田端寫真館), stands as a tender record of a thriving household and the simple, monumental pride of a backyard harvest.

「你的孩子不是你的孩子」(Your children are not your children)
from《先知 The Prophet》- On Children 孩子 by Khalil Gibran 紀伯倫
Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls. For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness. For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
Music of the Wyld (1987) — Andy Portman *Andy Portman 是一位活跃於 1980 年代末期的英國電子與新世紀音樂(New Age)作曲家暨鍵盤手。他最著名的作品是以極簡主義(Minimal)與邊緣音樂(Leftfield)風格為核心的冥想放鬆音樂
Before Andy Portman carried Dimitri to the moon, before he found the Holy Grail and recorded Vision of Forever, before the Owl Wars had ended and the Progbarians renewed their hunt for the Blue Crystals, there was a period when Portman wandered the Wyld. In 1987, the Dawn Awakening Sagegazer recorded Music of the Wyld, a transmission inspired by these last territories untouched by Progbarian thinking. The Wyld was not merely forest or sea, but a realm of waves, moonlight, birds, wind, memory, and recurring cycles. Through transmissions such as First Light, Dream Search, Fallen Beech, and Calm Sea, Portman sought wisdom not in conquest or certainty, but in attentive observation. While the Progbarians attempted to categorize every phenomenon they encountered, Portman listened for the deeper signal flowing beneath appearances.
. . .
As his wanderings continued, Portman came to understand that the Wyld was not a place at all, but a condition of awareness. Through breath, mantra, earthlight, and the mysterious sensation of déjà vu, he discovered that the Blue Crystal did not merely amplify power; it amplified perception. The signal revealed itself in the turning of tides, the circling of the moon, and the recurring patterns connecting all living things. The lessons Portman learned in the Wyld would later guide him through the Owl Wars, aid him in his quest for the Holy Grail, and help preserve the Sagegazers during some of the darkest years of the Patchoulilight.
. . .
The Sagegazer understands that true wisdom is not found in mastery, but in attunement.
