Don't fall asleep on Whale Beach. At least, not during low tide. It'd happen to unsuspecting victims, men drawn out on a sun filled day sapping their energy. They'd setup a chair or blanket down near the shore, passing out moments later.
The tide would start rising back up, slowly inching closer. That's when the men's bodies would start to swell. They would slowly expand, blowing up with blubber-like fat. The bathing suits would press tighter around their waists as the thighs filled like sausages, forcing the cloth to roll up while their pillowing bodies kept them comfortably asleep. Their bellies and chests would turn into rolling dunes, jutting out above the sand. Once the water touched their toes it was over, just another beached whale swelling in the sun.
