Any one who has ever made the statement that Tampa rappers are only capable of doing "Jook music" has been proven wrong with this track.
On Tom G's latest mixtape "Snappin' Season" he looked to an up and coming rapper Mondon (from Dynasty) and his producer Instrumentool for a different sound on his track entitled "Tragedy". I honestly was skeptical when I heard about the collaboration a few weeks ago, but the finished product definitely speaks volumes.
The track contains a sample from an old Sade track, the saxophone adds a sort of sophistication to the song.."Tragedy" is a heartfelt song from not just 2 rappers but 2 individuals that are expressing the trials and tribulations of living in the hood while touching base on some of the occurrences that have happened as of late and the unfortunate fate of those young lives who are no longer with us. This collabo was a perfect equation of a raw street sound, intellectual insight, and sophisticated music, which is enough to move any one regardless of whether you are from the hood or not.
