Some Monster Donnie for the soul
The Bonus Track from Mondo (Special Edition)
Giant anteaters are such cool animals, it’s hard to try to improve them except for making them even bigger. This creature doesn’t eat ants though but grass and leaves. They live in open grass- and shrublands. On its nose it got four ossicones (horns made out of cartilage and covered with fur) that can be used as weapons by the creature by swinging its head. Males often have scars on the neck caused by other males’ ossicones.
Side note: this creature might replace the role of a previous design I made called a mondon.
a non-cirek creature on this blog?? Yes!
This is a mondon, an obvious mash-up between indian elephant and warthog. They pretty much fill the role of real life elephants, in this setting they’re mainly beasts of burden used humans for transportation with a big intimidation bonus.
Cireks and mondon wouldn’t normally interact as they live in separate parts of the world however mondons (mondeen?) have been brought to the cireks’ turf by humans and I might have an “epic” mondon vs. cirek clash thought out in my head.
When I design additional creatures for my cirek-world I want them to look a bit familiar to real life animals. Only cireks are meant to be “unrecognizable” if that makes sense, you can’t easily place them in a species category in contrast to creatures like the mondon which is more obvious in its inspiration.
