who: @jaylinsw
where: a secret beach cove
Friend dates were an important part of her life, in fact spending time with any of her closest friends was always a delight. “I told you it would be worth the hike.” Imani stretched out in her beach chair, thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere. Normally, Imani would get to this secret spot via swimming, but Jaylin would not be able to join her, so she had to find an alternate route, and here they were. Enjoying their hideaway destination; basking in the sunny day and the stunning crystal clear waters of this beach cove. What made it even better was the lack of people around. “Ready to jump in?” Imani asked after polishing off her drink. The water looked absolutely divine, and she couldn’t wait to take a dip. “You’re not going to be weird again if I shift are you?” It was probably a waste of time to ask Jay that question, because they became excited like a kid in a candy store whenever she’s in merform.
While the area was secluded enough not to be seen, taking a chance was always part of mer-life. After-all, in history the sightings is what spurred many tales about the fish-human hybrid people that dwelled beneath the ocean waves. When she first ventured on land many years ago, learning to walk was a challenge, and so was swimming with legs. Of course, she couldn't simply enter the water and sprout a tail close to shoreline, so swimming with legs became a skill she learned in order to blend in until she could slip away and be her true self. “It feels strange swimming around like a human,” she added. “I don’t know how y’all do it. So inferior,” she teased.
