Kitty was in a bad mood. Not her usual, permanent, bad mood which was bad enough alone. She was in an even worse mood than usual. Christmas was always a bitter holiday for Kitty, she had been swamped with work and then got holiday time off meaning that she couldn’t use work to run away from her husband. On top of all that, her father was visiting so things had to be even more perfect then they usually were, if at all possible. The day had been good, with gift opening, Christmas meals that she had to cook. Sam had occupied her father with his impressions and although it infuriated Kitty to no ends, her father seemed entertained enough, which was useful while Kitty was trying to do ten things at once.
Her hands were wrapped tightly around her glass of red wine, her body shape hugging the Christmas dress she wore. She couldn’t help but sigh inaudibly, her gaze falling to the house next door through the window. She wondered what Finn was doing, but she wouldn’t dare ask him. He was probably busy with his wife - hopefully with his shirt on - and there was nothing Kitty could really do. It was strictly sexual, and she was married too. She loved her husband. Didn’t she? It was stupid to feel anything for Finn. When Sam entered the kitchen, it startled her so much she nearly spilled her wine. She turned around from staring out the window and cleared her throat. It was almost time for bed, and Kitty was thanking the Lord in the back of her mind. “Is my father gone to bed?” she asked her husband as bluntly as humanly possible.
