It was probably not safe to go out into the woods, considering everything going on. But then again, was anywhere safe at all? She could lock herself at home and someone might come and torch the place down. If the world truly was ending, she could do with one last hiking trip, and dying with nature all around her did not sound bad at all.
Ash was not following any particular trail. She would not mind getting a bit lost, the day was early, she knew she would find her way back home when the time came. So long as nobody tried to kill her. But, again, at this moment in time, dying in nature did not sound like the worst that could happen.
And yet, in spite of these thoughts, her sense of self preservation still kicked in when she heard noises coming from somewhere among the trees to her right. Ash jumped back, quickly situating herself behind a large oak. Peeking around it, she tried to identify the movement in the distance, until she finally recognised-- “Willow?” she called out, surprised to find the escort there.
