So, let’s talk about the wizard who created the Intellego Herbam spells I posted!
This wizard likes to cook so much he has designed spells to enhance his ability to do so. Each of the spells I listed in some way assists.
Some of the spells help him determine the best plants, herbs and spices to use in different dishes, either on the fly or by providing him with a list of their uses. Other spells help him to guide other people through the process of finding or caring for his garden- they can grant mystic senses to that effect, or let him supervise and spot errors in other people’s work.
And, of course, he has spells for finding fungal infections in plants. Presumably, he has spells for treating those kinds of infections as well.
All together, this makes him very capable of growing plants- even those that are far outside of their normal habitat. This wizard probably searches for strange plants to add to his garden, and thus, his palette.
Intellego Herbam spells help the caster find or understand plants, or plant materials. Most of the corebook spells have a very strong, “Druid in the woods” feeling. So I created a series of spells themed around gardening and the culinary professions.
Chef’s Great Knack
Level 3 Intellego Herbam (Animal)
Range: Personal Duration: Momentary Target: Taste
The caster mutters a few words in Latin to half-remembered kitchen deities, tastes a dish he is working on. He knows at once what herbs, spices or meat, if any, would improve the taste of his dish.
With a word and a touch to the bridge of the nose, the caster awakens the senses of the target. For the next two minutes, a single plant the caster knows of will seem, to the target, to release a pungently herbaceous and overpowering smell.

Green Thumb, Green Eyes
Level 15 Intellego Herbam
Range: Personal Duration: Sun Target: Vision
The caster runs his thumbs along his eyebrows and incants the names of three different magic herbs and divinities. Until the sun next sets or rises, he understands if any action or event he sees could help improve the health or growth of any plant or herb within his garden.

Encompassing Love of the Gardener
Level 15 Intellego Herbam
Range: Personal Duration: Concentration Target: Hearing
The caster hums a low, repetitive tune; so long as he focuses, he can hear leaf rust and other fungal infections of plants as low, dissonant notes echoing out from the injured plants.
After gently touching a plant with an ink filled quill, this spell causes a flurry of written words to appear across the leaves or stalk of the plant. These words detail, in Latin, the plant’s common name and all the common culinary uses of the plant. The latin inscription does not harm the plant; will break down and fade away after this spell’s end.
