Hey Gang... Just posted this on a forum thread over at SuperFastResults.com.

Anyone ever try that model? I recall a discussion about it and most of us figured if you're too cheap to buy then you're welcome to leave. I just thought it was interesting that this guy tried something different.

It all comes down to context.
If it's a pure lead-gen site that the user is unlikely to experience (visit) again, then it's worth a test.
If it's a site that you have which is aimed at building a relationship with the visitor, just ask yourself the question: Are you willing to compromise the user experience for a lift in opt-ins?
A lot of people take the view that if the site offers a lot of great value, test a pop-up with a high-value offer... as the people who get offended by the pop-up were probably not your ideal target audience anyway--if they were your target audience, they would have seen the value in the pop-up offer and taken action in response. It's a somewhat brutal approach, but it does have some validity to it.
