Are there ever fights between the houses, like over Quodpot, classes, or just rivalries. If so, which 2 houses have the greatest rivalry.
Thank you for asking! Yes indeed there are! More often rivalries, but sometimes full fights. A couple years ago, Thunderbird managed to get away with a couple of illegal fouls in a Quodpot match against Wampus without being called on them, and naturally Wampus got upset. People from both Houses, especially the teams, were getting hexed right and left for a few weeks afterwards until someone got seriously hurt and everyone decided that was too far. Pukwudgie and Horned Serpent stayed out of it, though innocent students from all Houses got caught in the crosshairs.
On the other hand, rivalries are very common. In case it wasn’t clear, the most intense rivalry is between Thunderbird and Wampus in Quodpot, closely followed by Pukwudgie and Horned Serpent. But then other fairly big ones are Quidditch between Pukwudgie and Wampus, soccer between Thunderbird and Pukwudgie, baseball between Horned Serpent and Thunderbird. There are also some rivalries between some of the non-sporting competitions, but generally, it’s between individual people, not the Houses.
The way we tend show these rivalries is pretty straightforward - impromptu pep assemblies during breakfast, convincing paintings (and the occasional ghost) to yell cheers about one House beating the other, charming others’ House pride stuff to cheer on the wrong House, spirit days the week before a big game, and virtually everything else you can think of. The teachers leave us alone about it mostly, unless something steps out of line (like jinxing other Houses’ toilets to spit toilet water back at them when they sit down - true story).
