most people i follow are unfamiliar with morse and his canon, so this is an interaction guide to help start things off even if you know nothing about him!
WAYS OUR MUSES MAY INTERACT
your muse: royalty / politician / celebrity etc.
morse's bodyguard verse. we can go straight into an established verse where morse has already been their bodyguard for a while, or we can start right from the beginning. perhaps he's replacing the previous bodyguard for some interesting reason!
morse investigates their crimes and probably falls in love with them. the romance isn't necessary, but morse does have a track record of accidentally making heart eyes at people who turn out to be criminals. sometimes they're even the suspects of the case he's investigating at the time.
your muse: law enforcement.
our muses could be colleagues! they may get on well or horribly, depending. morse is a detective constable, so it would be fun to play him with muses who are below, at and above that rank. they could be assigned to the same case, or be on separate cases that happen to bring them together. morse obviously has a canon setting with established characters, but i'm also happy for us to move him around / write your muse into his canon setting as if they work together.
your muse may meet poet verse morse at a rich person party. poet morse hangs around with a rich character that i've stolen from canon and diverted ( he dies in canon and that's unhelpful for my verse so we pretend it didn't happen ). he lives in his huge house and mostly just drinks and writes poetry.
or they may meet main verse morse if he's investigating something. morse can get a bit of an attitude around rich people when they're involved in a case, depending on his mood. but it can also result in some fun dynamics if they've been interacting a while and then they become aware of morse's financial situation ( it's terrible ). morse doesn't like accepting help, so this can be particularly interesting when it comes to relationships, especially if the relationship was established before the other muse realises that morse is living in a horrible tiny flat because he can't afford anything better.
your muse: medical worker.
morse needs medical attention a lot. he may need a paramedic or hospital trip or doctors appointment for one of many injuries. we could go with a canon event where morse would've needed medical attention, or we could make something up. honestly, either works. there's enough canon stuff to work with if we wanted to weave your muse into the timeline.
morse can also present an interesting case for medical worker muses, because he's got a phobia of blood which is so bad that he may pass out.
morse moves flat a lot. he could move in nearby to your muse. this somewhat depends on your muse also living in places that are cheap af, because morse generally can't afford anywhere nice until much later in his canon. for dynamics, this one can be fun too because he's a super annoying neighbour, he plays opera really loud and comes home at weird times because he frequently stays late at work or is on a case. he also sometimes has to be brought home injured. this one could be fun for enemies to lovers.
your muse: in a bar / pub.
maybe your muse works in a bar, or is just there as a customer. morse drinks in bars sometimes so can often be found there. maybe it could lead to a one night stand, or maybe your muse is concerned about the way he's swaying on his feet ( he's probably injured ). maybe they think he's pretty. he's open to a one night stand, but he's very likely to catch feelings.
if none of the above work, this one could work for anyone. they may find morse passed out due to phobia or injury. either one works. he's always going out on his own on cases, chasing suspects, investigating where he probably shouldn't be. we can easily have him wander somewhere and let your muse find him.
if all else fails, we can get your muse involved in a crime! they could be a witness that morse may need to interview. he might catch feelings and start making heart eyes. or he might find your muse extremely unhelpful and decide he's going to give them attitude.
maybe your muse knows something and gives some info regarding a crime, maybe committed by someone who knows them, or something that would put them at risk if anyone found out they had provided the info. morse might be put on bodyguard duty if they need protecting. he generally doesn't enjoy being put on bodyguard duty because he'd rather be solving the crime, but it depends on the person. he might be giving them attitude the entire time, or making heart eyes.
lots of possibilities here. maybe we set it post-crime and morse needs to interview them. maybe he needs to keep coming back to them for info, to keep them updated on the case. it depends on how your muse would react to being the victim of a crime. do they want to be involved? do they wish the investigation didn't have to happen in the first place? will they interfere?
or our muses are both victims of the same crime. morse is constantly following leads that take him straight into the middle of things. maybe his investigation takes him to the perpetrator, except they respond by attacking. maybe they're already attacking your muse, and morse interferes.
THINGS YOUR MUSE MAY FIND OUT ABOUT MORSE
i find first meeting threads quite difficult, so it's often fun to skip that and jump straight into our muses already knowing each other. so, to start off an interaction, we could use your muse finding out one of these things about morse.
he has a phobia of blood, dead bodies and heights. he might faint because of them. maybe your muse finds out when it happens right in front of them. or maybe they're there when he wakes up. or they've heard a rumour about it happening and they want to ask him about it.
he went to oxford university, but he didn't finish his degree. maybe they've found this out, but don't know why.
he has an extremely poor work life balance. really, really bad. maybe your muse catches him falling asleep because he stayed up working on a case. maybe he's late for plans because of a case. maybe he's brought work home with him, or maybe he fails to take any breaks at work and your muse notices this.
he's a hopeless, hopeless romantic. falls in love very easily ( and often accidentally with criminals ). maybe your muse is the person he's falling for. maybe they're trying to warn him about someone he's crushing on. maybe they're comforting him when yet another crush turns out to be a murderer.
people aren't allowed to know his first name. only 'morse'. maybe your muse is curious. maybe they want to guess it, or want to know why he won't tell anyone.
