Linnea tucked a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear, a large smile on her face with the excitement of being at war once more. It may not have been the biggest or most excited of wars, but as soon as Linnea had heard of the revolution going on in Spain she dropped everything and arrived on Spanish soil the very next day. Linnea couldn’t help but admire the working class, the peasants who were standing their ground and despite the lack of weapons, they were quite the force. There was a lot to learn about how the revolutionists were organizing their militia.
Sharpening her axe Linnea looked up upon hearing the approaching food supply. The food delivery didn’t make much difference to Linnea, after all, she didn’t need food. Linnea cared more about the people delivering the food. For all the admiration Linnea had for the peasants fighting back she admired the women who formed the Mujeres Libres even more. They were not only fighting for the revolution but they were also fighting for women’s liberation. Linnea decided to join the militia as well as the women’s organisation.
Going to meet the women Linnea’s attention was caught by a young woman in particular who Linnea had never seen before. Amongst the Spaniards, her dark skin and hair stood out just as much as her own pale hair and skin did. Before Linnea could even begin to feel curious about the woman the camp was suddenly attacked. Without a second thought, Linnea lept into action, her axe swinging. She was aware of the other members of the militia running to their own weapons, grabbing the few guns they had.
