Grocery shopping was something that was almost cathartic to Leib, walking through the isles, finding everything on the list Dhani had given him, and of course getting his own stuff that he hid in his room where Dhani wouldn’t look. Sometimes he wondered where that kid got off, trying to keep him alive so well. He chuckled at that, and then finished his grocery shopping. As he put his bags into the back of his car, yes, the librarian had broken down and bought a car, nothing like having a heart attack and having to wait for someone to show up with a car to take him to the hospital to make him rethink the whole not contributing to the laziness of the world. But as he put the last bag into the car he turned and saw a young woman looking- well, unhappy. He knew he couldn’t fix every problem he saw- especially not here- but Leib hated to see anyone looking upset, and even though he had rarely spoken to her, just a few conversations in the library he closed the car door and wandered over to her casually.
“Hey,” he said as he slipped his hands into his pockets. “You doin’ okay Sweetheart?” Okay, so maybe he didn’t need to be calling her sweetheart, he didn’t know what was wrong, and he really didn’t want to make it worse, but he had a problem with trying to charm everyone he met, so, here he was, trying to charm her as well.
