Caden wasn’t the biggest fan of approaching random strangers, but she could manage it far better than having it be the other way around. Granted, what she was or was not a fan of, didn’t really have much bearing at the moment considering she was in quite the particular situation. Randomly showing up in a new town with nothing but the belongings she happened to have had on her at the time was proving to not be the best of times.

Bearing that in mind, she approached the first person she saw with a phone similar enough to her own. “Excuse me, odd question, but would you happen to have your phone charger with you? I’m down to the very last bits of battery left and this is currently the only way I’ve been able to even find my way in this place.”

Closed Winter Market starter for: Wyatt Halliwell

As her vision came back into focus, she realized there someone in front of her. Caden couldn’t quite make out what he was saying just yet, but even as she kept a hand up to her ear, she shook her head with a weak smile and said, “Oh, I’m fine. Thank you. Just got some odd ringing in my ear...might be from the snowball I took to the back of the head.” Caden added a light chuckle.

Closed Winter Market starter for: Josh Washington

This whole Winter Market was oddly enough giving a sense of ‘home’. It reminded her of the various open air markets one could find in San Francisco, and added the special touch of being themed after what was, oddly enough, her favorite season. It was honestly all a little bitter-sweet, but she did her best to focus on the latter half of that adjective. “So, how many of these things have you already tried and what would you recommend?” she turned and asked, a final bid to keep herself rooted in the present: engaging with other people.

Caden couldn’t help but smile brightly at the offer. Not only was it genuinely kind, but the idea of simply taking a nice picture was a welcome reprieve to everything else that was currently going on. “That’s very sweet of you,” she said, “I’d love that, actually. Do you need my phone or do you have a camera?”

“Oh you really don’t have to,” Caden began, but the redhead was already up. “Thank you,” she said instead as she gathered her bags and took the offered seat. “Turns out grocery shopping when you have literally zero items in your kitchen can lead to quite a bit,” she chuckled.

Glancing up at the offered drink, she offered the woman a warm smile in return. Taking the cup, she wrapped her cold hands around it in the hopes of thawing out her fingers a little. “Thank you so much, you’re a lifesaver,” she said. “I’m almost certain my fingers were about to start turning blue.”

Caden would be the first to admit that she had been more than a little wary when some random guy had approached her while on her walk out, but it hadn’t taken long for her to relax a bit and just try to enjoy the company. “It was very nice of you to offer to walk with me and make sure I wouldn’t be bothered given the late hour. It’s usually the opposite intention when some stranger comes up to you at night,” she half-joked.
