The Washington Post created this interactive map visualisation, showing the source of electricity generation in each state in the USA from January to May 2015. The map breaks down data from the Energy Information Administration to outline every power source in the United States and categorises it by type and size.
Google News Labs in collaboration with Pith Interactive created this interactive visualisation of search data related to climate change from Internet users in 20 cities around the world. Eight search terms are visualised: energy; recycling; oceans; natural environment; drinking water; global warming; wildlife; and air pollution. It’s possible to see which topic is getting the most search volume overall and which one is trending in a particular city.
Real time data visualisation.
Not what you'd usually expect to see in terms of data visualisation, but this effectively what inFORM is doing. Using Kinetic to record the data it is then translating the data into the co-ordinated movement of the pins of a dynamic shape display.
Wonderfully amazing and great video to convey the potential power of the application.
Developed by those clever folk at the Tangible Media Group at MIT, you can find out more about the inFORM project on their site.
Thanks to the guys at helloyoucreatives bring this project to our attention.
