Chapter 2 is out!

Chapter two is out! Exactly a year after the first, which at the very least is an amusing consistency. This update adds over 40,000 words, doubling the length of the demo!

 I’ve stared for what feels like decades at the words on the screen so I could really use some help spotting inconsistencies (especially with characters!), issues with pacing, places of confusion. I am absolutely overwhelmed with this for a first project, but I am equally determined to continue. I’m a little desperate for feedback so please tell me what you think! If you liked it, tell me why. If you didn’t, tell me what. If you gave it a shot but it failed to grab you attention let me know where and why if you can!

 I hope things start to come together strongly for this chapter and you enjoy it as much as I did writing it.

I’ve a few more in-depth thoughts about a few things I could use suggestions and help with and I’ll post those in a little while.

 In the meantime I hope you have had a happy new year and enjoy the story!

SYNOPSIS

In the wake of an attack on your village that left your father dead and everybody you had ever known missing or the same, you are given one option; find your uncle in the Capital or else run for the hills and never look back.

It was never really a choice anyway.

FEATURES

Play as Male, Female, Non-binary – with separate and custom pronouns.

Choose your weapon, Hand-and-a-half sword, Daggers, Foci: Cuffs, Wand*, or Staff*.

Romance one of your companions, with no set sexuality.

Rhene(F): Piercing brown eyes and a calm demeanor marks the woman who stands behind you with a taut bow in her hands. When her eyes pin you to the wall, what will she find?

 Rory(M): A nervous smile and boundless crackling energy are constant companions to the young man who stands at your side. Will the lightning spark at your back? Will that smile belong to you?

 August(M): Golden curls and green eyes shine darkly against his skin. Secret lips whisper in your ear. When the truth comes to light, will that gold still shine the same?

 Lyle(NB, M, F) Bright blue eyes of the friend you’ve always known watch you adoringly. To the person who follows you always, will they be able keep you close and safe like they’ve only ever wanted? Will you let them?

Twisted Gold is a fantasy story with a dual-focus on narrative and romance. There are 4 romance options: One female, two male, one gender-choosable (NB, M, F).

[TRANSCRIPT] You coalesce a ball of your aura in your palm, twisting it tight and layering into it the memory of stifling heat and mocking tongues of flame and the smell of smoke and the screams and the screams and the screams and the bells bells bells and- 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺! You throw the ball of fire as hard as you can, ripping yourself out of memories and nightmares. It slams into the chest of the bandit charging you, he screams too, right before it swallows him and explodes into splashes of hungry flame flame that licks at the leaves and at his smoldering skin. He thrashes 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 on the forest floor and you can do nothing but stare.

A bit of a progress report: I’m working away at the two main paths for the majority of chapter two and at my currents rate it should be somewhere between 20-30 days before it’s finished, I’ll take about a week to look it over and make changes and then it’ll be ready for release.

I’d like to thank everybody who has read for their interest in the story and hope I can deliver an even better experience through chapter two. If anybody has any suggestions or hopes for chapter two and beyond, as always I am more than happy to hear them!

[TRANSCIPT]The door to the inn slams open, and the broken shards of the memory skate across the table, flashing in the sunlight. Theres a young man standing in the doorway, shoulders heaving up and down; the sounds of his panting breaths loud in the sudden silence of the inn. After a few seconds of thick tension hanging suspended from the ceiling, Tom emerges from the room behind the counter. The new arrival stumbles towards him on the other side of the room.Once he reaches his target, he talks quickly to Tom in short, agitated hand motions; eyes wide in excitement, or fear. Both maybe. "Calm down, Wes." Tom soothes, "what's this you're going on about?" 

"Survivors from a bandit attack just came in," he rushes, "they're sayin' bandits attacked 'em a couple leagues outside of town!" A burst of muttered conversation surges between the- [END OF TRANSCRIPT]
