Okay I've seen in your pinned post you're an editor in a newspaper (that's cool asf) so, top 5 favourite fonts/typographies (ik the difference but I'm not remembering it rn sry).
I’d argue I’m a more talented editor than I am writer, which is a pity because the mark of a good editor is leaving no mark at all, so it’s a challenging skill to show off... and I’m afraid this will be a boring list. when you’re publishing, you don’t want the reader to notice the font, so I have no unusual affections
My favorite font is Times New Roman. It’s just a classic and I’ll always have fond memories of writing papers and getting to format them in the end, turning on the professional, polished font
Arial. Sans-serif fonts are preferred almost everywhere online for accessibility, and this one is my personal favorite because it’s familiar. You’ll really notice if a webpage has serifs; it sticks out like a sore thumb (in my opinion). I’ve never seen a webpage with serifs that I thought looked anything other than clumsy and unprofessional (and, importantly, inaccessible)
Now we’re in the weeds… you can do everything with those two fonts. I write with a typewriter sometimes. whatever the Olympia Electric X-L12’s font is, that’s one really like. It has such a unique look
Procreate once had a license for a font called Jackson Armstrong BB, included in the bundle for the app, which was the font most procreate users would set for comic dialogue. they’ve voided that agreement with Bambot, unfortunately, which is why I hand write all my comic text now. I really like the look of that font: it’s italicized, which somehow adds so much cohesion to it
This does not count but I’ve run out of fonts I have genuine opinions on, so Palmer’s method of cursive. It was taught in the early 20th century as a replacement for the more ornate Spencerian cursive, with the selling point being that it could keep up with the speed of a typewriter. I hand write everything I’m serious about, and palmer cursive is what I use
