How did you start watching TDI?: I heard it was similar to Danganronpa, so I watched it when it was on Netflix.

If so, how did you become hooked/what episode got you hooked?: This question applied way better back in the day, but I got into TD again after 4 years of not caring about it much because I saw how many fics were coming out for Alenoah in 2023 and I was like “who’s Alejandro?” Now I’m here.

Favorite episode: In terms of fanworks, I See London. But I should really rewatch Island, it has some pretty good episodes.

Least Favorite episode: Hard to say? I don’t like a lot of the episodes necessarily but I’ve had a lot of fun rewriting some for my Aletyler WT fic. My Island knowledge is rusty and I’ve never wanted to really watch Action for some reason, I’ve only seen around the first four episodes.

Your opinion of Chris Maclean: ‘Maclean’, ha!

He’s my least favorite but he’s fine. I think he’ll grow on me eventually but for now he’s just kind of there.

Does Chef creep you out, even the tiniest bit?: I guess?

Does Chef's cooking creep you out, uhm, alot?: I guess? Is something wrong with me, I didn’t really react to it.

Do you feel sorry for Heather?: She had it coming in Island – I really didn’t like her in Island and it was only until WT that I came around to her..

Has your opinion of any of the characters changed over the course of the show?: Absolutely. Harold used to be my favorite and I think Cody was my second favorite. Coming back to the show (because I changed so much as a person in between 2019 and 2023) was like a clean slate, though I shipped Nowen before because I’ve always liked both Noah and Owen.

Were you mad at Harold for switching the votes?: No, I don’t think so. I thought it was kind of cool.

Opinion of Trent/Gwen: They have some good chemistry, I like them aesthetically, and I’ve read some one-shots focusing on them, but ultimately I prefer them with other characters.

Opinion of Duncan/Courtney: They’re neat and I like how popular they are. If I was naturally more into F/M ships I’d like these two a lot maybe.

Opinion of Geoff/Bridgette: Aesthetically pleasing, but ultimately more interesting with other people in fanworks.

Opinion of Harold/Leshawna: I don’t like them together TBH, I prefer Leshawna/Heather or Leshawna/Courtney. For Harold, IDK, Harold/Ezekiel?

Opinion of Tyler/Lindsey: Aesthetically pleasing, but ultimately more interesting with other people in fanworks. Also Alejandro/Tyler is my favorite pairing in this series so I’m biased to be annoyed by this one – I ship Lindsay more with Trent than with Tyler.

Opinion of Owen/Izzy: I can see it, but also… IDK? Izzy is hard to ship with people and I really like Nowen.

Since Noah/Cody IS TOTALLY CANON WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT, your opinion of NxC: They can be cute, and I’ve enjoyed fanworks of them, but I prefer both characters with other people. I simply don’t care about Cody too much.

Opinion of FANON: The shit.

1. Short stories, novels, or poems?

I seem to bounce between really short, prompt-based stories and novel-length epics -- almost no in-between.I don’t know how or why, but that is apparently how I roll.

2. What genre do you prefer reading?

I'm primarily a fantasy person (Discworld for life), though I also like some sci-fi (steampunk-related mainly). I also like the unofficial "weird stories/facts from real life" genre -- a lot of my favorite books in the past have been collections of weird criminal stories, strange inventions, and the like.

3. What genre do you prefer writing?

I seem to gravitate toward a weird mix of sci-fi/steampunk, urban fantasy, adventure, and slice-of-life stuff. "Secundus," for example, is set in a steampunk universe, but a lot of my shorts in that verse deal with just day-to-day life for the characters. The "Forgotten Vows Verse" similarly has fantasy elements (like a magic system), but the bulk of the stories feature Alice and Victor surviving on the mean streets of Whitechapel, adventuring in Wonderland/Victor's Otherland, and settling into domestic life in Sandford. I also have a strong combination of fluff and angst going on, as I’m sure you’re all aware by this point.

4. Are you a planner or a write-as-I-go kind of person?

I plan out rough timelines, do early drafts of certain scenes of stuff in my head, things like that. When it comes to actually writing the story, though, I find myself winging it a fair bit. My characters like to have all sorts of off-topic conversations in my first drafts. XD

5. What music do you listen to while writing?

Uh -- none, usually. I experimented for a while with listening to some video game soundtrack stuff, but the fact that I did so via YouTube meant that the internet ended up a distraction, and -- yeah. It's easier for me if I just open up the document first thing and dive right in.

6. Fave books/movies?

Fave Books: I love the Discworld series, and I think my favorite book is Night Watch (with Going Postal a close second). Vimes is easily my favorite character and I love seeing him just gradually get more badass with every book he's in. And Moist is just a joy to read about. I also like the cast of Unseen University -- Ponder's a treasure too. :D

Fave Movies: The Back To The Future series (with my favorite of those being Part II -- yeah, shock, the girl who loves AUs loves the part with the AU Hill Valley best) and Corpse Bride. I'm also fond of Edgar Wright's movies, specifically Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and Hot Fuzz.

7. Any current WIPs?

Well, if we're talking non-work: brown slippers, blue yoga pants, a black hoodie over a T-shirt (with either a BTTF, Corpse Bride, or American McGee's Alice print).

9. Create a character description for yourself:

"As usual, Victoria was hiding away in her room, slouched at the computer. Her posture was typical of one who owned a laptop -- hunched forward, neck bent upward slightly. She occasionally tried to sit up straight when she remembered, but then she'd get wrapped up in a YouTube video or reading a fanfic, and soon she'd be slumped over again. Sometimes she'd reach up to play with her blonde ponytail, or tap her leg against the ground. Looking at her, you'd probably think she was any typical teenager.

"Joke’s on you, this woman is thirty-one years old and has an office job."

10. Do you like incorporating people you actually know into your writing?

Only in fourth-wall-breaking gift fics for friends -- my friend Gigs has a self-insert character I use for fics I write about her, for example. Usually I go the route of using names from people involved in the productions of the movies/video games I write about, or referencing other characters I like in other media.

11. Are you kill-happy with characters?

Not really -- I like my fair share of angst, but actively killing characters off tends to get a little too dark for me. I don't mind killing off a really awful villain, but my mains always have to survive. (Yes, even given that I write fanfic for Corpse Bride which has an awesome afterlife! Let my mains reach it by old age, please.)

12. Dream job?

I've always thought it would be cool to write movie novelizations -- almost like fanfic you get paid for! (Don't think I would like the stress of deadlines and the like though.)

13. Coffee or tea while writing?

Neither -- like I said, I just like to open the document and go.

14. Slow or fast writer?

Oooh, that really depends on the day. Sometimes the words just pour out; others it's a struggle to get down those first couple of words. I can generally manage a page a day on a WIP, though.

15. Where/who/what do you find inspiration from?

Generally, movies, books, and video games I've enjoyed -- I think I'm pretty well-known on this corner of the tumblrs for having like fifty million Valice AUs based on something I saw or read or played. (Examples: "Wonderland Fuzz" for the Hot Fuzz movie, "Pern Crash" for the couple of Pern books I've read (I just like fire lizards), "Aperture Wage Slave” for the Portal games.) I also get inspired by prompts and posts on tumblr -- "The Technicolor Phase" is based on a soulmate AU prompt I came across, and the "Cuddlepile AU" from some posts I saw about Alice being ace and me getting curious about what exactly my favorite characters' sexualities are. Basically it can come from just about anywhere, so long as I like the thing.

16. If you were put into a fantasy world, what would you be?

I'd like to be a witch of some description, but I don't know if I'd want to be a protagonist witch. That’s a lot of pressure and stress. Maybe one who helps out the main characters from time to time in the background.

17. Most fave book cliche? Least fave book cliche?

Fave: I’m a sucker for the “non-action guy gets involved with action girl” thing, as you might expect from my OTP. I’m also a fan of meet cutes and people getting amazing powers -- that they don’t quite have a handle on at first. But then they learn and are incredibly awesome.

Least Fave: I actually needed to think about this one -- probably because I tend to avoid them in my reading. But I’m not a fan of “the brooding bad boy” for the most part (I prefer my boys sugary), and love triangles can be iffy (I blame too much Corpse Bride fanfic where Victoria’s character is assassinated to put Victor with Emily -- I don’t mind a good Vemily, just don’t kick Victoria under the bus!).

18. Fave places to write:

Just at my desk in my room. I have trouble concentrating in other environments. (Well, unless writing up RP replies counts; then my desk at work counts too. I do drafts of those on my breaks.)

19. Fave scenes to write?

Characters having long rambling discussions, if my first drafts are anything to go by. A good conversation between friends/lovers is my jam.

20. Most productive time of day for writing?

Any time when I start writing before looking at the internet, I guess. :p I generally write around 5 o'clock in the afternoon on weekdays (since that's when I get home from work), and anywhere from 11 to 2 o'clock on weekends/days off (since I get up later on those days, and I have to first have my breakfast and -- on Saturdays -- clean my room).

21. Reason for writing:

Because somebody has to write all these Valice AUs. :p More seriously, I've always been someone who enjoys making up stories and seeing what sort of crazy situations I can put my favorite characters into. Writing them down and sharing them with other people just adds to my enjoyment of the whole process. :)
