This TumblrTopTen also doubles as a blog update--normally I wait until the end of June / we are formally halfway through the year before I start there, but as of this writing I’m currently on a trip/away from my main computer. So in light of that, I’m getting this intermediate TTT out of the way. On that note--although I have gained some (mostly reliable?) internet access where I’m staying, expect art output to slowdown if not stop outright (I have my old drawing tablet and my iPad + Pencil Pro with me, but it may still take a while before I get anything done artwise). Things should be back to normal by mid-July (although I originally wanted to return back home earlier).
Though still hauling in several more notes than the art on my main label--nothing on that side has garnered even past 50 notes, let alone over 100! This halfway point also represents a bit of a downturn in note-riety (bad pun) compared to the past couple of years. Much of this, however, I definitely attribute to some of this blog's biggest fans falling victim to tumblr's more ruthless approach in handling suggestive/nude content as of late--with some user either restarting from scratch or giving up on tumblr outright.
Even this blog, as (relatively) small as it is, isn't immune--I've already talked about the trials and tribulations I had trying to get the past Tumblr Top Ten set up back at the end of last year (see link below), before giving up on having it contain any images. I even have a text-only version of this on hold as a backup in case the same thing happens with this post. There's also been a major uptick of my art having mature Community Labels retroactively added* and having some edits of my art that would had been cleared a year or two ago actually struck down with the dreaded tumblr flag. (The retroactive labeling also applied to this post, even though I already added a Mature label to this post when saving it as a draft. Way to be proactive, I guess. At least it's not been flagged...for now...)
Needless to say, it's not been the best of times for anyone that's a fan of drawing/posting/sharing even mildy spicy content on tumblr under the Community Labels era. I still consider this the home stadium for my blog, believe it or not (it's where I first got started, after all), but I may have to reconsider it if things continue to get bad enough.
(*This doesn't actually bother me too much, as art that usually gets retroactively labeled here, I do manually assign similar labels/ratings on the other sites I post to in most cases. That said, the one time a retroactive label did bother me was was when it happened on my main art label, where almost all the art I post there is intended to be worksafe. Still waiting for a verdict on my appeal, by the by!)
