Where to continue BS Accountancy in the Philippines? (For BS Accounting Technology / Internal Auditing / Management Accounting graduates)
It’s already the start of graduation season! But for Accounting majors that are contemplating whether they will start working (since careers for non-CPAs are also competitive nowadays) or continue to study Accountancy (of course to get that title, CPA.), it is a dilemma. You can make a choice to become a working student if you are willing and if you have the energy to do it.
When I was a graduating Accounting Technology student, I really had a hard time finding a school where to continue BS Accountancy. There weren’t a lot of resources in the internet where to inquire about taking 2nd degree. I did a lot of asking from my colleagues to get the information that I need to continue this degree. At first, I was hesitant to study again because from the beginning, I didn’t plan to become an Accountant anyway. But due to twist of fate, I finally accepted my destiny to become a CPA and now, I am determined to be one.
Thankfully, my alma mater opened their second degree program from BS Accounting Technology to Accountancy. I took a qualifying exam and passed. So, that’s how I became a 2nd courser.
This post is for all the Accounting Technology, Internal Auditing, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting students who would like to continue BS Accountancy as a 2nd degree after the graduation.
*DISCLAIMER: Please take note that I do not represent or act in behalf of the colleges/universities mentioned in this post. (Because there is no such thing as absolute assurance, we only give REASONABLE ASSURANCE) You may contact the universities for more information.
Minimum: 1 Year Maximum: 2+ years (+ REVIEW SCHOOL!!)
Well, it depends on the school and where you graduated from. If the curriculum is similar, you may have a shorter time studying Accountancy. There are also schools that require you to retake a certain subject if you have failed to reach a certain grade in your previous degree. For an example, in La Consolacion College, if you have a grade of 2.75 to 3.0 in your first 5 accounting subjects,(old grading system wherein 1.0 is the highest), you need to retake Financial Accounting 1. Why? Probably because it’s the core subject of your early accounting subjects. Also if you came from a non-catholic college/university and you wish to pursue Accountancy in a catholic institution, you need to render few units of Theology, of course.
Here are some of the schools that offers a 2nd degree for continuing Accountancy in the Philippines (mostly in Metro Manila).
