When I was a kid my best friend was from Chennai, and I would spend every day with her, her family, and their Indian friends/relatives in the neighborhood. One summer they taught me how to do henna and her aunt did beautiful designs all over my hands. I loved my best friend, and she has always been an extremely special person to me despite that fact that we have now grown apart. I do henna on myself every spring, as way of connecting to that. I am white. How can that be bad?
