watching a bunch of leatherqueers i know irl dogpile in the comments of a fucking indie cartoonist for making a sort of basic and bad-taste comic about the hanky code that desexualized (tbh sort of asexualized) it is....so disappointing? i want to roll my eyes into the back of my head at the audacity. i love to knock a tenderqueer cringe moment myself but don't knock on someone's door just to tell them they suck??? unless it's a politician, corporate or governmental entity, or journalistic publication then literally, leave it the fuck alone. learn a lesson from the algorithmic drivel and know that some things don't need your commentary.

my pettiest thought about peers of mine who are also in the position of having to use instagram for business (mostly other artist-workers) is poo-pooing this one person who has made one linocut drawing of Palestinians (they are not a Palestinian person) and has made literally 17 posts about this one print. and yes, they are selling it. + the virtuous offset of selling it is donating prints to american Palestinians who want one. it's not a bad thing to do, per se, but to me feels riding an icky line. one time O said they hated when artists made fundraising campaigns of their work where a percentage of their proceeds go to the cause du jour (just donate the money - don't make little treats to incentivize people spending money for xyz) and I tend to agree. but I tattoo a friend-client who has had FIFTY family members die in Gaza this month, and she says I just want everyone to keep talking about Palestine. I do not want this to fade from the news or from social media. I just want everyone to keep talking about it all the time. 17 posts from one measly print is a pretty good numbers game for getting new followers for your art market business on instagram, but at least each one mentions Palestine too.

the didactic rhetorical turn of “I don’t see anyone posting about ___” strikes me as so absurdist in this day and age on algorithm driven platforms. Like how do you know what people in general are posting about? You have as much of a generated echo chamber as anyone else. If it’s not agreeing with you maybe you have stupid friends and shitty politics lol.

You know, neopets started as an entertaining but lowkey promotion of freemarket economies (and gambling) to kids. It has now aged into its nigh-collapse, desperately in need of market regulation late capitalist crisis with a userbase that would stage a socialist revolution if they could. This faerie festival business is laying bare the ELITIST PIGS of neopia who form entire guilds to create market monopolies on specific goods, lying in wait for the moment the demand skyrockets due to government (The Neopets Team) negligence and simplistic policy fixes. The hyperinflation alone makes it an absolute chore to play. Users submit help tickets to a single email the way we drop votes in federal elections, completely hopelessly. gotta love it.
