Interstate State Park, Wisconsin
I’m anxious as all hell and I’m sure I’m not alone, so I thought I’d put up yet another installment from this autumn’s photography escapades.
These were taken back in late September from the Minnesota side of Interstate State Park, looking across the St. Croix. Lots of lighting changes in the short time we were there.
Golden hour lighting will forever have a place in my heart.
Potholes Trail, Interstate State Park, Wisconsin
A re-edit of a photo I took last fall. After a nice autumn day of hiking Interstate State Park, we were rewarded with a sunset over the Saint Croix River gorge between Wisconsin (left) and Minnesota (right). Interesting geek fact - the gorge is an ancient fault line crack in the exposed rock that is more than half the age of the earth.
Standing tall
The annual trip to the Minnesota side of Interstate state park did indeed manage to happen this year, and there were a very manageable number of people so that we could keep at safe distances.
I mostly took my photos with the Nikon, so I’ll upload those another time, but here’s the plein air study I managed on location. Funny thing is the sun came out strong as I progressed, so the rocks don’t seem bright enough here. I would like to keep working on it in my spare time (what’s that?)
Autumn Sunset at Interstate Park
Taken just after an autumn sunset on the Wisconsin side of Interstate State Park looking across the St. Croix River towards the Minnesota side. Here, the river winds through a narrow and steep path through an ancient fault line.
