Springtime Sunday moment of zen.
Moment of zen today - practicing macro shots with the bouquet of flowers.
With all of the ugliness of the week, I’m bringing back a moment of zen for the week. A macro flower shot from the farm last summer.

Plus it's your last chance to order canvas and metal prints to ensure arrival before Christmas.
A bindweed flowers late in the summer in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge.
Just in case you still need it, break for a moment of zen.
And now, another moment of zen - flowers from around the farm back in June.
After another long day political stress - here’s another moment of zen. Courtesy of mother nature in Cascade River State Park.
Let me interrupt your feed of politics for a moment of zen.
Falls along the Cascade River.
A pine with a view - overlooking Lake Superior from atop Mt. Josephine.
A great view of the fall colors from Lookout Mountain in Cascade River State Park.
Peeking Through
Early in the autumn and surrounded by mostly green forest, a lone red maple shows off it’s bright red color. This was shot through the leaves of a foreground tree towards the opposite end of the valley, giving it a little leaf bokeh.
The autumnal equinox sunset over Grand Marais.
MN State Fair Time!
Today would have been opening day of the Great Minnesota Get-Together, but not all is lost. There are several competitions still happening, and one of them is the Fine Arts Competition. While I did not make it in this year, I will be going to check out the great works by over 300 talented artists, and you can too, as there are still some tickets available on certain dates to view the works at the fairgrounds. They are also on display virtually for all to see too. Just go to https://www.mnstatefair.org/competitions/fine-arts/
From today through Labor Day, you can also get a one of the limited edition, archival quality giclee prints of my past 2 entries that made it into the competition at 10% off and I'll be donating 10% to the Friends of the BWCA too!

2017 Eclipse
3 years ago today, I got to witness one of those rare astronomical events that leaves everyone awestruck - a total eclipse. This is a composite of several photos I took that day outside Lusk, Wyoming. I had one camera set up taking wide landscape shots and one camera with a telephoto lens and special filter to keep the sun from burning up my sensor. I wanted the landscape to convey the feeling I got during the totality - a cold night-like sky, the distant clouds and horizon had a warmer early dusk vibe, and the ground had very flat and dull light, which we usually don’t like in photography, but here, it represents how it actually was.
Dragonflies
The dragonflies were busy pollinating the corn & soybeans a couple weeks ago on the farm.
It's the last day of the virtual county fair sale!
Today's double feature includes prints of "The Little Pink Schoolhouse" and "Our Lady of Mount Carmel", two historic icons of the Easton & Wells area. Both photos were taken before renovations and additions.
