Job Interview Morning Routine! How to PREPARE for a Job Interview!
INTERVIEW LOOKS! Excluding the clothes, these were all taken post-interview.
So here’s the thing. When you’re trying to get a job, you want your professional qualities and your personality to be what shows. Too much makeup can drown that all and your interviewer may remember your face, but not the person behind it, and that’s just not okay! So here are my tips and tricks and some of the products I use:
Do your eyebrows, I have nothing against that. In fact, I strongly encourage it. Want the fact that you’re neat and put together to show? Eyebrows. In the first pictures I used the Sephora Eyebrow Editor, which I loved for a long time, but it came to be too dark for my already-dark brows when I went blonde. So I’ve switched to Benefit’s Ka-Brow! in a lighter shade and LOVE it.
You also want to pick makeup that enhances a natural feature. Me? I have naturally rosy cheeks and high cheekbones. So I use TheBalm Cosmetics’ Hot Mama! blush, and Vintage Cosmetics highlighter (in Rose Gold, which was my product of the year for 2016) over that. In the bottom two images I contoured using Cargo bronzer, which I’m still learning how to do please don’t judge me oh my god (blending seems to elude me).
Neutral is the thing, I’m a huge fan of the PureCosmetics Buff Collection palette for my skin tone. I also seek rose/mauvey shades for my lips (which have nothing on them in the bottom two pictures because it all came off by the time I remembered to take pictures), and I NEVER wear fake lashes. Like, not even just to interviews, I don’t wear them at all. I’m scared of the glue. Lately I’m feeling Benefit’s They’re Real! mascara, but you have to be CAREFUL applying it or you get spider legs.
As for your hair? You don’t want it to be frizzy and messy, but you can do a lot with it. You can wear it down and straight, or with big curls, or like I did today: in a high ponytail, which is really in this season (thank you, ye gods of fashion)!!
Aaaanyway, these are my tips for an interview look that will impress but won’t outshine your most important qualities! Best of luck out there!!

I have two interviews today and not wearing my nose ring feels weird 🐙
I own facemakeup in two shades - corpse and cheezepuff. I opted for the latter today.
sometimes a clean fresh face is all you need

FOTD: Interview #2
Like I said in my FOTD: Interview #1 post, I had two interviews this week. Today's look is for my interview I had at Macy's for the cosmetics counter. I think both interviews went really well and I am waiting to hear back from both places. Today's interview is kind of similar to the other interview look I posted yesterday, but this one just has a little more steps to add some depth. I did want to keep it professional while showing that I have some talent with makeup since it is for a cosmetic counter job. Let's get started!
I started by priming my face using Napoleon Auto Pilot pre-foundation skin primer. I really don't know what primer I like better out of all the mini ones I own. I would like to figure it out so I can purchase a full size one.
I forgot to take a picture for this step, but I used my Benefit Stay Don't Stray primer under my eyes first. Then I applied this Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil in the color CIA. This picture is before I blended it out.
(so my lighting started to go haywire so I have shadows and random brightness everywhere SORRY)
Then I applied L'Oreal True Match foundation in N1 Soft Ivory. I used this because I ran out of my BB cream and this was before I purchased my new Revlon foundation. This color used to match my skin but it seems a little dark on me now so I really had to blend it out.
I primed my eyes with Urban Decay's Primer Potion in Original.
I lightly set my face with ELF's Mineral Booster in Sheer.
I contoured my face with Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil.
I filled in my brows with ELF's Brow Kit in Dark.
I started out on the eyes the same way I did in the last FOTD: Interview post. I used my Meet Matt(e) palette and the color Matt Patel. I applied it in my crease and under my eyes.
Using the color Darkhorse from the Naked palette, I deepened my crease and put some on the outer corners and blended.
Well I am a douche and pointed to the wrong eyeshadow color, but I applied the color Sidecar from the Naked palette on the center of my lid for a little pop of shimmer.
Using my Nude Tude palette from TheBalm, I took the color Sleek and just put a tiny amount right in the outer corner of my lid and under my eye.
Still using my Nude Tude palette, I dabbed the color Sassy on my inner corners.
I lined my eyes using Makeup Forever Aqua Liner #13 Mat Black. I kept the wing subtle.
I set my liquid liner with the color Serious from the Nude Tude Palette. I also applied it along my lower lash line and slightly smoked it out with a brush.
I curled my lashes with my Sephora lash curler. I thought about using natural looking false lashes, then I realized I don't really have a pair natural enough.
So then I decided to just use mascara. My Maybelline Illegal Lengths mascara is running out and getting dry, so I used Maybelline Falsies first, then applied the Illegal Lengths.
I used the same blush as I did in my last interview look because I just really like it for a natural, more toned down cheek color. It is Jane Be Pure Mineral Blush #03 Rose Silk.
I did my makeup several hours before my interview so I could have plenty of time to do it and for any mistakes I may make, so after I was done I used Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray. I just wanted to make sure my makeup would last until my interview.
I did apply a lip color later on that isn't in these pictures. I used the same product from my last interview look and it was my Tarte Lipsurgence in the color Enchanted.
Anyway, the look is complete! I was pretty happy with the finished result! The interviewer did say my makeup was done "beautifully" so that made me feel happy. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed!
