An Interview with Francis Kenneth
As long as I can remember I’ve always been drawn to the world of fashion. I loved to read articles on well-known clothing designers and I used to flip through the pages of such publications as Details and GQ. At the time I was working as a courier and I was always given a free copy from the manager who worked at one of the condos that I used to do deliveries for. I couldn’t wait to finish my day, go home, lie down and read my GQ. Of course, I always had a great love for men’s fashion and that’s what caught my attention to the work of Mr. Francis Kenneth.
I first saw Mr. Kenneth’s photos on Instagram, where I usually browse for men’s style ideas. A little back-story on Francis: he served in the US Navy for 6 years, a true and dapper soldier. Francis is also studying full-time as a behavioral science/psychology student and also as a part-time musician. He definitely has his hands in a lot of pies; so to speak. He is a multifaceted individual; with many talents, many skills, and beautiful projects that always introduce him to new cultures. Besides having his collection of amazing photographs hung up on his Instagram account he also has an amazing network of social media including: Facebook, Twitter, and even Snapchat. On his official site: franciskenneth.com, in his ‘About’ section a specific quote caught my eye: “he prides himself in translating his versatility through his uniform of the day.”
A definite modern gentleman of his day, Francis prides himself in his looks and resourcefulness. Yes his looks are all different but you can tell that they all say the name: Francis Kenneth. Mr. Kenneth was kind enough to give me the great honor and opportunity to interview him. I knew that with his great workload he would be too busy for the usual interview. He is definitely one of the busiest individuals I know and so I conveyed that I would only do his interview through email, that way he could take the time to sit down, read my questions, and write down his answers as best he could. While reading Francis’ posts you will sail along the gallant and dapper seas as you navigate past the limits of all denim, stylish boots, supremely wicked accessories, flavorful ties and blazers, and of course the ultimate classy air that flows hand in hand with color and apparel assortments.

Following Francis’ work and style is really inspirational. Reading his posts lands me square in my very own fashion dreamland. I can take pointers on what colors to where together, what boots match best with what color denim, what ties go splendidly together with which shirts. It’s a great way to help you be more involved in discovering your own style, unless you already have one. I love my style but it definitely needs fine-tuning. I can definitely learn from and will continue to grow along with him as I venture forwards on the style game. You make the rules; you pick your team and colors and win the game! No matter what, you always win.
Interview Questions
1. What drew you to the fashion world and what was the defining moment that made you truly fall in love with fashion?
I’ve had an affinity for fashion for as long as I can remember. My dad stressed the importance of dressing well early on, so it was always in the back of my mind. I guess what I’m trying to say is that there wasn’t a defining moment because it always mattered to me, whether I knew it or not.
2. Why did you want to start working as a fashion blogger?
I like fashion. I like writing. Put two and two together, and here I am. That simple. Wish I could give you a cooler story.
3. How did you come to start blogging, what made you think: "I'm going to start a fashion blog!"
My ex-girlfriend thought it would be worth a shot for me to try, so I went with it. Again, here I am.
4. Under what conditions or in which environment do you feel you can best find your inspiration for your blog posts?
My blog posts are typically inspired by my personal experiences. I've learned about and been around a ton of different cultures, all of which I feel have made an impact on me, and I think that really shows in the outfits I put together.
5. What inspires you or motivates you to post a photo or write about a certain product or brand?
First of all, if the brand has an all-around good vibe about them, that's usually more than enough for me to work with them. Sure, I have my style preferences and what not, but I also enjoy a challenge. If a brand approaches me with said challenge, I'll almost always take it on (unless, of course, it's particularly detrimental to my personal image).
6. What would you say is most fulfilling about being a fashion blogger?
The most fulfilling thing about being a fashion blogger is that I use it as a creative outlet. Sure, the "job" has its perks, but I honestly do this as a form of self-expression. Without creativity, this all means nothing.
7. A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online. Do you have some tips for those people who are really interested in making this a career?
Don't do it for the money. Period. Do it because you love it, or any other reason really. In fact, I would go as far as saying: “don't do anything for the money.” Oh, and it's definitely not "easy."
8. What makes you passionate about this business and about what you do, is it emotionally satisfying for you or a struggle at times?
It's always a struggle, but in a good way. I'm always learning, and that alone is emotionally satisfying. As much as I enjoy blogging, I could easily walkaway from it. I would still dress the same. I would still be the same person.
9. You've got your very own style and charisma. Are there some days where you find yourself conflicted or confused about what to wear that particular day?
Sometimes. I mean, I can't even figure out what I want to eat most of the time, so you can imagine what it might be like.
10. I know that you served in the U.S Navy for 6 years, during that time, were you also attracted to fashion or men's style?
I was, definitely. However, since I was in a uniform majority of the time, I didn't really have a need for "dressing up." Regardless, I was still very into fashion.
A special thanks to Francis Kenneth for his time, hard work, and for making each day even more inspirational and stylish, it does not go unnoticed.
All the best
