Bárbara López - Mis Mexicanas by Paty Cantú
“Hi, how are you? I’m Bárbara López and I’m an actress. The first thing that comes to my mind when I have to define myself as mexican is in the example that the women in my family have gave me. My grandmothers, my mother, my sister, my aunts; they are women that have fight for their families that have show us what is to fight, to accomplish your dreams; to be a fighter. I do believe that’s something that define us as Mexicans, everyday that we go out to the streets we have examples of women that are fighting for their families. We have also learned to admire each other, to cheer each other as Mexican women, to join us to create amazing things. I also think that something that we have as mexican woman are our happiness and warmth. All of that define me as a mexican woman.”

“For me being a woman in the 2020 means that from our corner we have to do everything we can to make more women happy. We are use to pospone our happiness... I’m going to be happy when I lost 2 pounds, I will be happy when I get a partner; for simple as it is, happiness can’t wait any longer. I think one thing that motivates me the most is getting to know the stories behind the people that are listening to us. When you understand that you are giving voice to those who probably doesn’t have the chance to express themselves or that are not in a good place that’s when things make sense. There is one thing I need to say, the fact that abortion is legal it doesn’t mean that the women that are pregnant are forced to do it. It only means that you have the chance to choice to have your kid or not. It can’t be a tabu anyone, it is a fact, it is daily basics. Penalize abortion wouldn’t make people to not get an abortion, it will make women to abort illegally; that makes that the one that is more wealthy can go to a better doctor and the person who can’t wouldn’t. We are a generation that grow up learning that if you want to make it you have to go over someone else and when I see my best results is when i partnership with the most women possible because nobody understand us Better. It is amazing when you give love and empathy and you get it back. Everything aside is a way better lifestyle.”
