it’s been a few days, but I just really wanted to have this on my tumblr.
Sunday eve was closing night performance of Heights in London, and for me personally the 12th time I went. I just love that show so much and am so grateful I was able to go that often (big shoutout to Kings Cross theatre offering student discount for every single seat in the audience). I first saw it about a year ago and went again in the next two weeks cause i was blown away by how amazing it was. Since then there have been many cast changes (and i’d say at least one swing or u/s per show) but the energy levels of the cast was always just incredibly high.
over the series of the last year, i got the see the main cast improve, chorus members become understudies and become leads, and audience attendance slowly increasing and it was the most amazing thing.
Also I was lucky/clever enough with timing that i managed to be there the two times that Lin went, which omg i can’t even describe how great it was. I really didn’t expect him to show up for closing night cause he tweeted about how he was going to go to the golden globes, but then he changed his mind last minute and showed up absolute last minute. Hung out at stage door after the show and had a poster I made get singed by cast members (who are just super amazing friendly. Sam Mackay, what a dude. was singing and taking pics for like 45 after the final show. what guy.) and after a while while was one of the few people left. We talked for a bit (turns out they’re all cool people, all hugely into musicals, none of them is straight) and a bit later we saw Lin walking down the road and we still got a group selfie cause the evening hadn’t been insane enough apparently.
really sad about Heights closing, but it definitely had the most incredible closing night
