@intombed | starter call ft. Alpine
When he opens his door to see the woman standing there, he assumes she’s a unknown neighbor. There was no knock, and the hallways of his apartment building are always much too busy with families of all ages running up and down stairs to assume someone standing by his door is looking for him. Really, he’d think anyone seeking him out would try to be a lot more stealthy, considering he can’t imagine any desire to contact him is one of good intentions. “Do you need something…” The end of his sentence trails off as he stares at her, recognition pulling at his gut though he can’t quite place her. Not at first. Not for several seconds, until—
Alpine squirms under his arm, mewing unhappily at the way his grip involuntarily tightens. The bell on her harness breaks him out of his uneasy surprise. His past never really stays in the past, always creeps up on him— not that he deserves anything less. “I don’t want any issues—” He stops himself before saying her name, he doesn’t have that right. His other arm reaches up to secure Alpine’s wriggling body, taking steps with her towards the front door of the building, “If you can, try to keep my cat out of this, she’s innocent. Most of the time. Some of the time.”
