It’s WIP Wednesday!
Here’s the continuation of my last post for the MI6 Cafe. Bond isn’t giving his best first impression.
Q emerged from the bottom of the stairs to stand at the girl’s elbow. He was giving Bond his most Quartermaster-ly withering look, but it was a little hard to take him seriously in a rumpled Star Wars t-shirt and plaid pajamas, his dark curls looking even more wild than usual from sleep.
Bond gave a shrug. “She started it.”
She glared at him. “I’m not the one who broke into the house at two in the goddamn morning.”
“Bond, don’t provoke her,” said Q, carefully extracting the gun from her hand.
She folded her arms across her chest.
“I assume Bond has already introduced himself in his usual fashion,” said Q. “Bond, this is Jo Mitchell. She’s a… an old friend of mine. She’ll be staying here for a while.”
Bond quirked an eyebrow at the odd introduction, but decided to file that away for later.
“I’d ask if he’s always like this, but I think I know the answer to that,” said Jo.
He smirked. “It seems my reputation precedes me.”
She gave Q a pointed look. “Sure you don’t want me to shoot him?”
He heaved a sigh. “No, unfortunately the paperwork would be a bloody nightmare.”
“Fair point. I wouldn’t do that to you.” She gave his shoulder a squeeze. “Well, I’ll leave you two to sort this out,” she said. “I’m going back to bed.”
It was very subtle, but Bond didn’t miss the way she squeezed Q’s hand before heading towards the stairs. Curious.
“I’ll be up in a minute,” he answered quietly.
Very curious.
"Don't you worry Sylvia, you're so beautiful, they will love you as I do. How could they not, with a smile like yours that rivals the Sun itself?"

Mori’ovo

The only child of an aging king and his wife, Mori’ovo’s birth was celebrated.
His blue hair was not.
The elder dragons feared him-- there had not been a blue-flame in a very, very long time.
No one was sure if he was to be a sign of peace and prosperity or an omen of the ill things to come.
Children, even dragons, are cruel.
His bitterness was internalized, and a quiet, but compliant, child emerged from the jibes and sneers.
Instead of fire, he was ice.
Ro’caro-no. Flameless.
They tried to shame him in public; the prince with no fire. If only they knew that just one slip, just one moment of righteous anger, would loose an inferno without reservation or discrimination.
The threats made against his father’s life and Mori’ovo’s kidnapping are inexplicably intertwined, but how will the kingdom react when the prince they love-to-hate has disappeared?
